“I go through this cemetery quite often. It looks very nice during the summer as they regularly cut the grass and have sprinkler systems in the one area. Sometimes the landscapers don't care about anything other than just cutting grass, as I've seen chopped up plants and even flags that were placed on the stones of veterans. There are a couple different entrances and exits, so driving around isn't much of a problem, as long as you don't have cars trying to go both ways.”

“This is the oldest cemetery within Houston city limits and the resting place of John Harris. He's the dude that founded Harrisburg prior to Houston. When the Allen Bros came from NY they tried to purchase some of his land but didn't like the price so they moved on. Anyway, the cemetery is oddly located within a neighborhood and a train passes literally next to it.”

“If one is concerned of the Islamic ways of burring then this is the perfect place as it reminds us Muslims about our cemeteries back home (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, and all the Muslim and the non-Muslim countries cemetaries). Muslims who bury their loved ones in the Christian and other non-Muslim cemeteries for whatever the reasons, these cemeteries are not Muslim/Islamic cemeteries. By only having the loved ones facing the Kaabaa does not make such burials Islamic at all. If there is not any Islamic cemetery new you, then its allowed to bury in a Christian cemetery provided all the required burial formalities meet the Islamic sharia laws of burials. Lancster cemetery is a truly an Islamic cemetery and the administration is very strict in maintaining all the burials according to Islamic required methods.”
