Such a wonderful place filled with kind, generous, loving people. All people who followed the word of God, the teachings of Jesus, and the "Golden Rule". I was even baptized there! When I was born, our Pastor Johnny L'Engle wrote a letter to be opened by me when I turned 18...wise words and kindness regarding the big world I was about to embark on, and to always trust in God and Jesus (paraphrasing - of course) The Salem community will always be a part of my life no matter how far away I may go.”

“I was married in this church 50 years ago today, Rev. Frank Fenton officiating. September 16, 1973 was a Sunday, and Rev. Fenton had spent the previous night chaperoning a youth group camping trip. He was bone-tired, and it showed. He filled in the date of our marriage as 1972 on the certificate, but it never created a problem. My new wife, Paula, and I had met Rev.
