“I'm not a big fan of this truck stop. There are a lot of spaces but most of them are reserved and very tight to get into. The grounds used to be a mess but have been cleaned up. “It was clear from my brief experience at Preferred Auto Service that these guys are honest and definitely have the customer’s best interests in mind. Example 1: The manager Carlos gave me the price quote on the part that I needed and it was over $250. He told me it seemed expensive and suggested I look elsewhere. He gave me the part number and I found it online for $70! I ordered it right to the garage and they installed it in less than an hour. Example 2: I went to pick my car up after they were closed and my battery had died. Victor has just closed up the shop and was on his way home. He saw that my personal jumper didn’t have enough juice. He insisted on letting me try his. When his didn’t work, he re-opened the shop to get the big jumper which worked like a charm.”

“Maedge's is a godsend for those of us living in Alhambra. I use the laundromat regularly, and am grateful to have laundromat facilities just a few blocks from my home. Their restaurant is very popular with the local crowd - service is always good, and food quality is decent but underwhelming for the prices charged. In addition to containing a laundromat, diner, and service station, Maedge's also rents out movies on DVD and has a car wash bay with access to air and vaccuum.”

“We stopped for gas here today. It’s a bit off the interstate but the last time we stopped here (a year ago), we needed a new wiper blade and the fellow installed it for us. You don’t often get that kind of service anymore. Anyway, today we just needed gas. I needed to use the ladies room and was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean. The woman working at the counter is very friendly and pointed out they had just received a supply of fresh donuts. Definitely will stop here again next time we are passing through.”

“You remember the disaster that happened on the Gulf Coast, correct? I can't remember the year it happened, but the one thing I've taken from that incident is that British Petroleum (BP) uses American oil. Amoco was the former name and entity, bought over by BP. I go to these locations to purchase American gas instead of gas derived from petroleum from foreign countries. I don't even want gas from Canada! And Citgo uses gas from Venezuela (or so I've heard---correct me if I'm wrong). If there are any other petroleum companies using American gas, then I'd like to know. Otherwise, BP is my favorite---for buying American!”
