“Truly a National Treasure worth visiting! They do offer a discount for residents of Williamsburg, though they do not extend that to neighboring counties, or state residents for that matter. (That's a shame.) They did not offer a military/veteran discount either. (That too is a shame.) We had a GREAT time on our Haunted Williamsburg tour, which took us inside the Wythe House, a side room at the Governor's Palace, and the Geddy House. Not sure if they use different homes year to year, but that would definitely keep it fresh and draw repeat business.”

“We came here just for the lighthouse and the museum staff let us in without the donation fee for entry, which was super nice. This light is retired, but still cute, and was a great stop off our way to Point Pelee from Michigan.”

“This is a fledgling corporation formed to bring renewal to Eastern Kentucky and the Irvine-Ravenna area in particular. Coal had long been at the heart of the area providing good jobs for thousands. At the heart of this project is the restoration of steam 🚂 2716. There will also be a restaurant, brewery, entertainment venue and a museum located on a portion of the CSX railroad yard located there in addition to the stable of vintage rail cars and locomotives. This will eventually employ several.”

“Fort Klock Restoration is a unique museum. The fort is a single-story stone structure house, built in an L shape and set in part on bedrock, and in part on a stone foundation. The fort house was built in 1750 by Johannes Klock. Klock was a participant in the American Revolution serving in the Battle of Oriskany. The museum preserves not only the fort house, but many other objects and artifacts primarily from the 18th and 19th centuries. The guide will demonstrate what they were used for and how they worked. Included in the tour you will also see a Dutch barn, blacksmith shop, and one room schoolhouse. Loopholes or gunports are a part of the house so it could be defended in case of an attack; showing the difficulty of life on the colonial frontier . The spinning wheel and loom are also unique to learn about. For a small museum it really offers a lot. If you plan on going call ahead so you can get a tour. Guide was friendly and informative.”

Lots to look at & the gift shop was tastefully stocked with some great stuff at very reasonable prices. Jack Dempsey (the boxer) even stayed here for a quick minute.”

“Another Hidden Gem !!! Located in Santa Ana, O.C., it’s pretty close to the downtown area. The museum has an amazing collection of Polynesian artifacts, which I think is the main draw of this museum. It also features a little bit of Chinese, Hispanic, early California and some Mission pieces and the way things are curated are easy on the senses. They also added some thematic music to the exhibit rooms that added to the overall vibe as if you’re being taken back in the time and this was one of my personal favorites of my visit because museums usually don’t play music in their galleries. The museum’s architecture is patterned after the early California Missions but the entrance is modern. The gift shop is nice and there is also a restaurant on site. There is ample parking across or you can do street parking as long as you’re conscious of the allotted time. I also wanted to add that they did a neat exhibit on Mt. Everest. Lastly, dedicating a gallery for California’s budding artists is the way to go, so Congratulations!!! May I suggest if they can include educators to their discounted entry, that’s a win. Bring the family and enjoy!”

“A museum that shares the history and culture of the Morongo band of Cahuilla Indians. The museum is small but packs tons of information into the tight space. There is also a native garden which informs visitors of the historical and cultural usage of these plants for the Cahuilla. Make sure to have a valid ID since you will need it to enter the reservation where the museum is located.”

“The Historic Village at Allaire State Park is one of our favorite places to visit as a family. On the weekends we catch the black smiths creating in the shop (who don’t mind my kids asking a million questions while they work), get treats for the kids in the bakery, and peek in the general store. The volunteers in historic costumes are full of information - we especially like it on days when we can catch the woodworker making toys & letting the kids guess how they were used. It’s fun to see what buildings are open on a given weekend & what demonstrations are being held. When we’re lucky, we catch glimpses of brides & grooms leaving the chapel - always a fun bonus. The $5 entry fee per person feels like a good value. My only criticism is the bathrooms by the village parking lot seem to have a drainage issue & are often muddy - but I recently discovered the bathrooms in the visitors center, which are cleaner & more comfortable overall. There’s a large & lovely picnic grove by the village parking lot. And another bonus - the village shares a parking lot with Pinecreek Railroad/the NJ Museum of Transportation, a working railroad that makes 2 short loops in the park just next to the village. The railroad is separate from the village but both are in the grounds of Allaire State Park and their close proximity makes the train a nice addition to a day at the village. I can’t emphasize enough how much we love this place.”

“What a fantastic place. We spent over 6 hours here today. The crowds are light when you arrive when they open at 9 am. There are excellent displays, restored buildings, a significant history of the Circus and even Elephant and carousel rides. Bring food or have a hot lunch with pretty low prices. Plan on a day of fun and learning.”

“We heard about this display and thought we would check it out. Oh my goodness! The cars featured from the movies was incredible!! From Carrie to Cars to Batman, Fast and the Furious and plenty more. If you like movies and know the vehicles involved, you really need to visit. They also take suggestions. So I suggested the Steve McQueen car from Gone in 60 seconds, the hearse in Nightmare Before Christmas, the Chevelle from Better Off Dead, and a few others. Enjoy!!”

“Very nice location. Great views of the ocean. House is great to tour. Ghost hunters would enjoy this place. Nice grounds to walk around. The holiday decorations were a nice touch. Takes about half an hour to an hour to walk around the houses, but there are trails as well to walk through the preserve.”

“Nice local museum with a good variety of exhibits. The aquarium in particular is very nice for a museum of this size. It's fairly small and mostly geared to kids, but it's good enough to keep the adults entertained as well. The $15/adult price is a bit high if you are visiting without kids, as you can get through the whole thing in about an hour. But if the price doesn't bother you it's well worth the visit.”

We had two different ladies showing us around the property & were a wealth of knowledge of daily life of the Swiss immigrants to the area. All of the artifacts, buildings and indoor museum were all very well-kept and each w/unique historical facts. Don’t miss this!”
