“We came out of a contractor nightmare a month ago that just seems to keep on givin'. I called Home Depot to see if they could assist us with a problem created by our previous porch contractor (who up and quit April 27 when we wouldn't accept the decking he'd ordered and installed that we never approved--taking our $20,000 with him). At Home Depot I had the pleasure of speaking with Damien Gray who listened, took notes, guided, and said he'd make a call to the lumber yard who supplied their product to us at the behest of Contractor #1 to see if he could POSSIBLY mediate the problem so my husband I wouldn't get stuck with a whole bunch of lumber in a color we never approved but Contractor #1 had delivered. (Mind you, this WASN'T Home Depot's error on ANY level.) How often today do you get someone who says, "It's NOT our responsibility but it WAS purchased from us so we'll do whatever is necessary to 'right a wrong' done to a customer"? Damien was there at 7;30am when my husband was in the store; he was there when I called at 5pm which was wonderful--I didn't have to tell our 'bad dream' a second time. Damien was nearing the end of his shift; said he'd be 'off' tomorrow but would likely follow-up on this on Friday. When the phone rang 10 minutes later I was floored, and probably will be for a week. He did all he could and I felt 'heard' and his guidance going forward was 'spot on'. This is what makes me and my family loyal Home Depot customers. They talk the talk.”

“Denny Hadaway gave me a very good bid on drywall work I needed in a bathroom in my home that had fairly severe water damage. While other bids came in at thousands of dollars, Denny was "no more than $240.00" I hired him on the spot. He made the walls around the top of the shower and down the front and sides look brand new. We have an older home in Southwood Park and it can be very difficult to find someone to make the "old stuff" look brand new. Once I saw how superior his drywall work was, I walked him into a bedroom that I had started working on, but had given up on. It had 3 layers of wallpaper with some paint between the paper and a lot of damage to the walls where built in bookshelves and a built in desk had been removed. He worked for 6 long days in one bedroom. Slowly perfecting every inch of the walls until he had a smooth surface on which to paint. His price again for the bedroom was too good to be true. I will definitely be asking him back and would highly recommend him to others, but at the same time want to keep him a secret so that he's available when I need him to come back!”
