My friends and I ordered the pickle pizza which was topped with crispy pork belly bites. The armadillo eggs, which was hamburger wrapped in bacon and stuffed with goat cheese and topped with raspberry jam…so good. We also ordered the Bavarian pretzels that came with the delicious cheese sauce. The beer options were also fantastic, something for everyone….even the NA drinkers! “We came to go to la Estrella and this place offered parking. We paid $100 pesos for parking but then decided to see what the view was like. This side of the peninsula was more peaceful than the other side facing the main beach; those restaurants had mariachi bands and tons of people. We sat on the second floor in the glass in area that was warm and limited the wind so that we could eat in comfort. I found it classy that after we sat down, the guy came back and gave us our $100 for parking back since we're now eating here. We ordered fresh marshall crab that was served in a garlic butter sauce... The freshest crab I've EVER eaten! We also got the breaded shrimp with rice and beans... it was to die for! I never would have ordered seafood "breaded" but my boyfriend wanted it and it's his birthday, so he got it! ...it wasn't American style thick breading; it was light and an amazing sauce, cooked to perfection, with fresh corn tortillas, salad, rice and beans. The food was top notch and the view can't be beat.. you're literally sitting over top of the oven facing west with the sunset right out your window, and there's 3 levels to choose from. Atmosphere and food are absolutely 5 out of 5 stars! Our waiter was probably 12 years old. While he was very efficient and highly service oriented, the poor kid never smiled, didn't speak any English yet (we speak Spanglish so figured it out, and they brought another guy by who spoke English to help when ordering). I ordered a Pina colada (which was Delicious! Kind of like a horchata pina colada with cinnamon on it), and a tecate roja. I was mainly upset that they brought me a regular tecate original and when paying the check, cleared it from the table while I want looking though there was a quarter the beer left! Also, as other people mentioned in their reviews, the actual prices were higher than on the menu. I was going to complain but my boyfriend did the calculation and for the $170 pesos difference (after taxes and servicio and higher drink prices), the difference was like $9 US. Since the fresh crab was only $100 pesos and we didn't feel like arguing in Spanish about it, we just paid it. Plus, frankly, every restaurant we've been to down here, the prices were slightly different than on the menu. At least at Papas & Beer, they came out and told us in advance that they are charging higher than the menu for some items before bringing them to us. Regardless, still an AMAZING seafood feast for two, with 4 drinks (margaritas Pina colada and beers), all for under $45 US! I'd still go back and recommend it highly.”

“We went to salt pepper oak for lunch. There was a line of people waiting which is always a good sign, especially for a new restaurant.. luckily the line moved very quickly and we enjoyed watching the fun atmosphere and friendly staff while we decided what to order. We got a 2-meat tray (brisket and pork belly burnt ends) and a 1-meat tray (pork spare ribs), and with each Mac n cheese and slaw as sides. The meats were all EXCELLENT- moist, smoky, so simple but soooooo flavorful. It was hard to choose a favorite but the burnt ends, especially with the peach glaze, were absolute stand outs. The meats came with tangy pickled cucumbers and onions on the side which were a great addition to cut through the richness of the meat. The sides were good, but perhaps needed a little more seasoning, or punch of flavor. But they got the job done and honestly the meat is what we came for- and it delivered. We plan on coming back over and over again. Great staff, fun atmosphere and excellent bbq- try it out!!”

The location is easily accessible right off the freeway, decently priced, very polite and friendly staff, and the food speaks for itself! I ordered the teriyaki chicken with vegetable chow mein and it was ready within ten minutes or less. The food was piping hot and so delicious, I was disappointed I didn't have more of it left once I finished despite the portion size being just right.
