Great options from a varied menu and creative drinks in a lively atmosphere with a mix of latin and euro music. Went with the coconut margarita and the fajita salad bowl this time and both were delightful. Service is attentive and friendly and it seems that there is leadership on shift at all times. The one area where they could improve is that they use low-grade bread for their sandwiches. If Popeyes can make a lauded roll, so can the little guy. I got the brisket sandwich with mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese and my friend got a pulled pork sandwich with two sides of his own. I brought a heartier appetite and devoured my food whereas my friend couldn't muster the spirit, leaving his sandwich half-eaten. Nothing here is ever the best I've ever had but it's always good enough and to give a real proper review, I should try some of the other items on the menu. By the way, a great lunch stop for a quick bite if you're working in the area. Food comes at you before you can sit down. No bad meats here.”

This place is special, great facilities and services in front of the beautiful Chickahominy river with easy access to the James and Chesapeake but not crowded like other rivers and lakes in VA. Awesome restaurant with outdoor seating in front of the docks with even better staff! Everyone is so nice and welcoming. We took our boat out for the first time and Calvert (owner) was actually waiting for us and helped us dock and secure the lines when we got back. After a few times here, it hits you. This is how it is all the time, they treat you like family and is clear they put a lot love and hard work into this awesome place. Our family is so happy we found this gem. “A beautiful and historic country club on lovely grounds. They have both a friendly and professional staff. There is a piano both upstairs and downstairs, multiple fireplaces, and multiple bars. They feature what looked like a very nice pool, though I wasn't able to check it out due to the inclement weather. Arnold Palmer is featured extensively throughout, both in pictures and in name. I appreciated the fresh cut flowers throughout the building!”

Service seems to be quick and accurate. I will come back in the fall and try out the outside patio. The only reason I didn't give the full five stars is that I'm not okay with dogs- especially if not service animals - eating inside the restaurant. Outside in the patio I'm cool with. When we got here the parking lot was full, we were greeted and seated quickly, there is plenty of seating but gets busy so may have a short wait depending on when you arrive. When my oven stopped working the morning of my wife's birthday, I had to figure out how to carry on the tradition of a German chocolate cake for my wife. I was relieved when Theresa answered the phone and assured me I could pick up a cake around 2:00 P.M. that day. My wife LOVED the cake, so not only did my wife have a delicious cake on her birthday, I may get out of baking her a cake every year. Win Win! Ashley's Pastries is the best!
