If a wine country getaway sounds good to you, you’re in luck! The Guadalupe Valley is just a two hour drive from San Diego and is now consistently producing world-class wines.
Our new favorite retreat in the Valle is the new Palazzo Del Guadalupe, which just opened this summer.
The hotel's striking Tuscan style architecture is a preview of the gracious elegance of this boutique hotel and spa. An incredible collection of fine art and international artifacts - dispersed throughout the property - was a real highlight of our visit.
We found the staff to be extremely welcoming and helpful with any arrangements (and recommendations) outside the gates of the Palazzo.
The wine being produced here is literally award-winning. Last month (June 2023), the Palazzo's Nebbiolo Crianza 2021 won a Gold Medal at the Mexico's most prestigious wine competition, the Mexico International. As of this moment, I believe that only hotel guests are able to purchase this fantastic wine, but I suspect that will change as the winery gets more distribution.
We spent most of our time at the pool, but also enjoyed the adjacent work out complex, which includes a dry sauna. The Palazzo’s Zen Spa offers a full range of treatments (sadly we were too busy to stop for a massage, but look forward to it on our next visit).
We traveled through the Tecate Port of Entry and found it to be easy both leaving and entering the US. The roads out of Tecate are excellent - it felt like they had recently been paved. Door to door from my house near La Jolla, it took less than 2 hours.
The Guadalupe Valley is a great weekend getaway and the Palazzo makes it something special.
We staid 3 nights this week .3 couples in this stunning B&B.
Great location , very quiet .
Italian style with some Asian touches.beautifully decorated with arts collection and nice furnitures . Eco-friendly/ zero carbon with solar panels and own water supply.
Great hospitality and friendly staff.
Excellent Chardonnay and red Nebbiolo wines for tasting.
Amazing place to stay in VDG.
Highly recommended.
We spent 2 nights at this beautiful property. As you drive in and first see the Palazzo, you realize you are in for a special treat. It is the perfect showcase for the owner’s stunning art. All of the staff were so friendly, professional and responsive. A special shout out to Paula and Sarya, they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. It was clear they wanted everyone to have a wonderful time. We experienced delicious wine, snacks and fun conversation at the evening wine tasting. The night of our tasting, the owner found out the University awarded the Palazzo Nebbiolo a Gold Medal! Each of the areas of the property are beautiful and it was a relaxing stay. The rooms were spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had all of the modern amenities you expect at a first rate establishment. The striking mountain views are the perfect background for this unique and intimate property.
I had a pleasant experience. The staff were attentive polite and eager to satisfy our requests. The hotel is very elegant and clean, i'm sure it will become a hit once people know about it, it is a gem.
Palazzo de Valle is nestled in the beautiful Valle de Guadalupe. The setting is warm, intimate, sophisticated, friendly and casual. Accommodations, food and wine are all superb. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. I give my visit to PDV 5 stars. It is a perfect place from which to explore the Valle and the greater Baja area, or to spend a quiet weekend lounging by the pool with friends and family. Bravo PDV.
