“We arrived at the Crusader, It was a cold autumn afternoon aproximatly 3:37pm. I reversed the car into one of the far spaces towards the back of the pub along a row of trees. We walked in through the back entrance to find a group of locals sitting at the table nearest to the bar. They looked, we looked, we were not familiar faces but they could recognise we ment no harm. The bar maid greeted us with a smile, her energy was warm and pure. She poured me a stout and an IPA for my companion then we ordered chips. We sat down at the dinning area by the window on the soft seating provided. It was cosy, before much time had passed the food arrived and we tucked into the tastey grub. After that well-needed feast we set to work writing poetry and sketching Junkyard Mermaids on the pages of our handmade books from scraps. The time had crept upon us, and we had to depart. Before leaving I used the facilities which where warm, very warm. The whole experience was warm on that cold Autumn afternoon.”

The lights were on full beam despite it being a Saturday night. We therefore found it hard to relax and settle in. On the way out we walked through the pub area and log fire looked a lot more appealing. Next time we'll come, but just for a drink.”

“A very pleasant evening in this "gastropub". Music was not too loud. The food was very good, as was the service. Prices reasonable. I enjoyed nearly every bite of my meal (a fillet steak) with the exception of the lukewarm, and slightly droopy "double-cooked" chips. Would happily recommend and I also will be back.”
