  Lovely food, made simply, home style without fuss. The only down side is the long wait for the food. This is due to the sheer weight of demand.
  People seem happy to wait, you watch them cook your food, and see all the ingredients.
  Tonight it was Prawn Phad Thai, garnished with spring onions and peanuts, with some lime. Tasty!

  I had been to Spicy Basil once a few years ago, and although it was the spiciest food I had ever eaten, I found myself craving it over the years until I took my friend who had never been the other day. Its got a home food environment feel upstairs, busy, no fuss and quite crowded. Downstairs is a calm restaurant type room with comfortable seating. We ordered the spicy egg noodles with chicken as well as chicken satay and prawn spring rolls for starters. The satay sauce was too much on the peanut side for us, and the chicken skewers although lovely and moist, were a little bland. Spring rolls were nice and crispy. The noodle dish was delicious, although not as spicy as I expected or as I remembered. Plenty of moist chicken pieces and vegetables. The portion is generous and was enough for a takeaway box. A lovely place for no fuss moreish food and cheap prices.

  After many years of waiting and hearing about this place I finally got my chance. The verdict: One of the best Thai restaurants in London! The food is unbelievably good here, the pad Thai to die for! The chicken satay is as close as you can get to authentic. The portions are really big and if you're with a large group it's well priced. You'll read a lot about the service at this place (no one is rude, it's abrupt). If you want the full dining experience, ambience, service, three course meal etc then this is not your place. This is an in and out, high-through put establishment, absolutely heaving and packed. You get served high quality Thai food, you eat and you leave. Definitely not a place to bring the kids! Note; cash only!

  Have had a few take aways from this place which have always been good. No comparison to having things fresh in the restaurant itself though. Portions are large, prices are very reasonable but most importantly the food is great and packed full of flavor. Tastes more authentic than more run of the mill Thai restaurants in London. Note that it is cash only and the eating area is quite basic.

We had a take away from here, it took about an hour and has taken longer in the past. It's not your typical greasy oriental food. I would highly recommend the green and red Thai curries.
