  This is a fascinating place to check out. It's got lots of informative boards giving a background to the way this place would have worked as a fort. It makes it all the more engaging being able to check out the place first hand and walk around it.

  Great visit. I studied history at university and had no idea about this relatively recent period of tension between France and Britain. A good Sunday morning walk!

  A great place to visit with children. The info boards tell you most of the information but sadly the structures are only open on special days I think. We use the far end of the site for nerf battles with the children and friends!

  Such a great surprise when walking across Reigate hill. Original iron gates, vents & bunkers. Nearby you can find more bunkers & plane tip with information about their existence in WW2.

Reigate Fort was built as part of a 72-mile defence line to protect London whilst a huge ship-building programme was initiated by the British government. Reigate Fort was built in 1898 as part of the London Defence Scheme. By 1906 the Government no longer felt that it was needed.
