Cheaha Lake

Living in FL it's easy to get my fill of sand and sea however once in a while, deep within there is a longing for shadow of a mountain. This park did not disappoint. I went to visit a friend so the trip to the park was a surprise, however I will return again. The rangers were easy going and pleasant to converse with and the land was beautiful. There's a really nice lake nestled in the side of the mountain in which you can swim. To me the water was cold, but as I said I'm accustom to FL. I don't recall there exact price of admission however I know it was not expensive. There is camping as well. So, if you find yourself in the deep south and find you have a desire to run to the hills, go check this place out. Take some good company, shut off the phones and recharge your connection to the earth.

This lake is great for a quiet day away from everyone. There is no cell signal from Verizon or AT&T at the lake. There is a day cost if you aren’t staying at the park. The bathrooms need some work but it is an old park. They have different events and programs in the park on a regular basis. They also have a pavilion and several picnic tables along with a few grills. They also allow fishing in the pond but I don’t know if there is anything in the pond worth catching. Definitely check it out and enjoy the day down here.

The swimming area is roped off. There is also a dock that you cam jump off of. A beach area with sand that you can relax on. Varies picnic tables and pavilion to have a nice meal. You can grill. The playground area is nice and pretty new for the kids to play on. There is a trailhead aswell.

Had a great time camping here and visiting the lake. It was quiet due to visiting during the week while school is in session. Went out on a boat beyond the swimming area and hiked the black diamond trail to the rock garden. Worth the visit but I can see it being loud and crowded when school isn't in session.

Beautiful and quiet place! You can see Pulpit Rock from below and also the Vista Cliffside Restaurant. We went on the Lake trail which doesn't go around the lake but uphill - it can be challenging and we only went to the waterfall and back.
