A wonderful place to call home. Wonderful staff and a responsive maintenance crew. I would go so far as to say, this has been the best apartment that I have lived in Phoenix, and I have lived in 4 complexes before this one. It is in a wonderful neighborhood with lots of outdoorsy activities, with Thude park which is adjacent to the property. We have only been here since May of 2020 and we are loving every moment of it. Looking forward to spending the holidays in our new home.
Love this complex!
This is definitely a really nice community with amenities such as a huge pool with a sand beach, gym, tennis court, volleyball court, party room, plenty of flowers and decor. I lived here for 2 year and had a good time. Although it seems like management has high turnover, most of the people are pretty friendly. Whatever the rent is, add another $100/month due to other expenses such as trash pick up, management fees, community utilities, etc. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of these expenses before moving in.
I lived in a "class" non-upgraded unit. Everything inside the apartment was pretty basic and of low quality. The carpets were brand new when I moved in but were very cheap and smelled really bad for a few days when I first moved in. Also, the apartment ceiling fans did not include lights, which had to be added separately for $25/fan. Its worth replacing the cheap ceiling fan light bulbs, which burn out after a few days, with LEDs. I did this but paid out of pocket.
If anything breaks, report it to management and have them fix it, even though repairs can be a bit spotty. For example, my dishwasher was leaking and after 3 service calls, it still wasn't fixed. At that point I just gave up and put a towel at the base. Anything that breaks and is not reported to management before moving out, will be charged to you... and they charge a lot, so make sure to get it fixed for free before moving out.
One frustrating part about living at San Cervantes was people with dogs not picking up after their pets. This was a very common issue that was constantly popping up on the community board, but not much was done about it. People would walk their dogs at night and just leave the cr@p on the sidewalk, so it would be difficult to prove who did it.
The main reason why I moved out was due to rent increases. After the first year, my rent went up 4.5%. At the end of the second year, they wanted to increase my rent by 8%, so I moved out. Although for the most part I liked living here, I would probably look for other options before moving here again.
I am writing this a few years late. We lived here a year and loved it. Our apartment overlooked the park on the 2nd floor and we have so many great memories here. It was clean, no pests, attentive staff, and great pool. And it had a gas range. If for some reason we ever needed to move back and live in an apartment, a Mark Taylor property would be our first look.
