Very nice park but no wifi. Military parks need to step up with wifi. Staff and manager are great.

Neat, clean, well maintainec. Good staff. You can walk to the commissary and exchange. The laundry is complimentary with the site. The dog park is large and a little over a block away.

Not bad.. Clean & new.. But, presently no wifi. They are working on it. Not to sure why it wasn't already in when they built it. The rv parking spots are narrow. They only fit your rv no extra on sides. Good if you are a Class A motor home. Nicely spaced though. If you look at pics it will help you understand. Notice where door exits are, you have to step out on rocks. Also heads-up on Fri & possibly Sat nights there is a nearby bar that a band plays outside & it sounds like they are in the famcamp. Not bad music though.
Office staff seemed nice. Also a little surprised at $30 a night chg especially with no wifi except only in the office. Check the gate hours too. Nice for a couple days. Wishing there was a pool. But truly not a bad place! ☆☆☆☆ because no wifi.

This is the long-awaited Saguaro Skies FamCamp. It is all brand new and well-designed. There are 61 full-hookup sites, with guest lobby and laundry open 24/7. As of November 2020, the FamCamp does not offer WiFi, and be prepared for fighter jet noise.

The FamCamp is available to veterans with VA photo ID that includes the “Service Connected” disability designation. This review is from that perspective, and some administrative details can differ for active duty and retired military. We arrived for a two-day stay in November 2020. The following information pertains to that experience, and Base policies may have changed since then.

The reservation confirmation email from the FamCamp directed us to the Visitor Center at the South Gate. Be careful to follow signs to right side entrance for large vehicles. Having said that, I missed the big rig entrance and ended up a few feet beyond in the passenger parking lot. Fortunately, the parking lot was almost empty, and we were able to (barely) wiggle out our 40-DP after taking off our toad.

HOWEVER, after all of that, the MP at the South Gate told us we were at the wrong gate. Now, maybe the story would have been different if we were active or retired military. I just don’t know. But at this time, disabled veterans have to be credentialed at the North Gate, aka “Lightning Gate,” which is ¾-mile north on Litchfield Road.

As you turn into the Lightning Gate (North Gate), make an immediate right turn into the North Visitor Center, which is labeled on Google Map as the “Military and Veteran Success Center - West”. It appears to be only open 8-5 on weekdays only. The Center’s parking lot is sufficient to turn around a big rig. There is also an alternative exit to the sentry post, but it can be blocked by a public city bus. Beware: the Lightning/North Gate is open 6am to 11pm. Late birds might have to sleep in their toad.

At the North Visitor Center, I filled out a short form for a background check, which required my VA ID card (with ”Service Connected” designation) and driver license. That process credentialed me for 1-year, and indicated to the Luke AFB sentry that I was permitted access. My wife went through the same process, but since she is not a disabled veteran, her entry pass was only valid for one-day. She had to repeat this process at the North Visitor Center every time we reentered the Base, and remember that the Center is open only between 8-5. So, we made sure to get a new daily entry pass for her each morning.

Once you clear the sentry station, proceed down Lightning Avenue. Just past the Base gas station, turn right on Thunderbird St, and the FamCamp is on the left. Register at the FamCamp office, which also has a lounge and laundry.

You have arrived at your destination.
