Dillon's KC BBQ at Wildlife World Zoo

After a long morning of walking and exploring at the Wildlife Safari Dillon's was the perfect stop. We asked be seated outdoors next to the flamingos. It was so lovely and preferably given CDC guidelines on eating. The service was great...we were seated quickly, food arrived hot, orders were correct, waitress was attentive and pleasant given that Dillon's was very busy. The food was top notch. I cannot wait to eat at another of there locations. There fried catfish is about the best I have had. It is crunchy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. And so full of flavor.

The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of a wonderful waitress who helped us when another one was rude. The State recently lifted the requirement to wear masks and our food servers and one waitress were not wearing them. This made me uncomfortable so I brought it up that it was uncomfortable to me that the food server didn't wear a mask when delivering our food. Our first waitress' response was, "I don't know what to tell you, but it isn't required, so.... ya sorry." And then she continued to come back to our table and be within 2 feet of us while talking over our food. Another waitress, came over and asked if everything looked good and I told her what happened. She asked what would make me more comfortable and I asked that only the waiters and waitresses who were comfortable wearing masks come to our table. She offered to serve our table herself and she had my food remade. Yes, the State does not require it, BUT this was private property in a privately owned restaurant and the protocol can be made stricter than the State's protocol. I wasn't impressed in the least with anything EXCEPT for the nice waitress. She was amazing and understanding. If it was not for her, this restaurant would have gotten 1 star from me.

*edit* also, we saw them put used highchairs back in the highchair stack without sanitizing them. Pretty gross even without a pandemic. It was clear that only the individual workers who took the virus seriously were doing anything to be proactive to protect their customers and their coworkers.

Mackenzie earned a huge portion of the rating here, amazing service for my whole family on my mom’s birthday - thank you!!! She was so attentive and careful to make sure everyone including the 3 kiddos were having a great time and had everything we wanted, while busy with the rest of her section. The draft beer was especially delicious, can’t explain that part... Tall guy managing (didn’t catch his name) seemed to really care about the guests, employees, and food (which was solid), and facilities were clean. Great break spot or place to wind down after the day - Thanks y’all!
