  Just got back from my first hike at Camelback. Definitely worth it but way harder than I thought it would be. I read reviews and am glad I purchased appropriate hiking shoes and took along 5 bottles of water! Despite being in what I consider good shape, it was the climbing part that is difficult. Working out in a gym in Ohio does not prepare you for the treacherous climb! I climbed up the Cholla Trail and down the Echo side. Glad I did it and got to experience both views, truly amazing and feel quite accomplished! I was by myself and assumed (based on reviews) that there would be tons of people around so I would know where to go, in June that is not the case because of the heat. There were periods of time I was completely alone and you have to really look ahead to see where you are going!!

  It's a great hike... just B aware that in the middle of summer time if you have not hiked up a mountain please get sea salt and electrolytes and lots of hydration in your body before you go so that you don't end up being one of the many people evacuated off the mountain.

  Great views and a little taste of nature in the middle of the city. Watch your hands for little critters, and take water with you. This route is not as easy as Echo Canyon. If you want to hike the entire mountain I suggest starting here in the morning and going down Echo to avoid the sun in your face. A bonus of going down Echo is seeing the other half of the mountain which is made of sandstone which gives the mountain its character.

  BEWARE!!! This is a DOUBLE DIAMOND trail. Absolutely love this hike!! Beautiful views. Awesome workout to get to the top. Climbing involved but the views at the top are worth it. Definitely make sure to bring water as you'll be out there for a while. Did it (up and back) in a little under 3hrs hiking at a good pace and with a 15min break at the top. Watch GPS says my distance from trail head to the top was 1.35mi. Good luck, have fun and say hi to Groot when you're on your way...
