I donated dog toys, treats and food when I had to surrender my dogs. The staff is kind and helpful. The puppy was adopted in a month. The 3 year old dog had some much needed dental work, which I was completely unaware of. They take care of their medical, dental and emotional needs too. They have sponsors and resources to get animals adopted or fostered, so I’m confident in their care.
This is not a place I could work at because I would be crying all the time. So God Bless the 2 wonderful women working the front desk when I arrived. Helpful, quick and efficient. I wish I lived closer so I could drop off donations on a regular basis.
I dropped off a cat that had been dumped by someone into our neighborhood. Obviously hurt and starving.
The drop off area was clean and had no odor. You have to make an appointment here but I witnessed workers trying to help a homeless man with his animals who didn’t have one so if they have the time and you are willing to wait it can happen.
But remember they are there to help people and their pets as best as they can so call ahead. Make the appointment and donate if you can.
UPDATE:
For the past week, we have been working with the Humane Society. They have been phenomenal. Our initial adopted kitten was unfortunate, but not the norm. With help from the outstanding staff, we now have two healthy kittens in the family. We are all so happy and I am so thankful for especially Serena who worked hard to make sure our family got the right new addition(s).
Even after our difficult first experience, I wouldn't hesitate looking at the Humane Society for our next pet.
Original Review:
On Saturday, we adopted a kitten for my son's 6th birthday. We had been planning this adoption for weeks. While the staff was sweet, we waited almost 4 hours in total. They wait system was a mess and you waited hours to find out the cat you wanted was already adopted. Finally though, my son picked one and we adopted her
On the drive home, we noticed her nose had some mucus, but we weren't too concerned. She was extremely calm and sweet. Less than 24 hours later she passed away. In her final minutes she was struggling to get air. She clearly had some sort of sickness not caught. We called to talk to the shelter and at this point we have not had a single call back. Horrible situation made worse by the lack of response.
