Tonight we night rode trail 100- to cave creek.
LOVE SHAW BUTTE! If you haven't hiked here, give it a try!
Nice easy trails for beginners. Some moderate trails available as well. Bathrooms and vending machines available.
Great hiking spot. Steep but not too difficult. Plenty of parking at the visitors center or there is another parking lot just a bit further south where there are pavilions for picnics. It connect to other hiking trails if you wanted to make a day of hiking in Phoenix. Clean restrooms and lots of info to be learned at the visitors center. There are flat paths between the two mountains so it is hike friendly to those that do not want to go up mountains.
Shaw Butte is the back mountain and North mountain preserves is in the front. The front of one is under construction at the time but looks like its gonna be a beautiful facelift when done. That one has a paved pathway the whole way to the top.
If I'm correct, this is the name of the concrete trail that leads up to the radio towers....
In that case, it's a good place to get some cardio in! The only thing is if you want to park right next to the start of the concrete path, be prepared for limited parking. Their parking lot is super small- fits about 10-ish cars, and it's hard to get in and out. Even if you come early at 6 am, sometimes, it can still be full (in the summertime).
Going up, it's a steep incline that really gets your heart pumping. It takes about 20 (?) minutes to go up. I usually do it up and then down one round, and that's usually enough for me.
