Chaparral Dog Park

Of all the dog parks in the area, this one seems to be the cleanest/best maintained, and frequented by people who have invested at least some basic training time with their dogs. We’re typically here once or twice a week, and I can’t think of a time we’ve had to deal with aggressive dogs or questionable owners. If you have a very young, small, passive or timid dog, this would be a great place to begin socializing as they have an area specifically for those purposes - and the active dog areas are large enough so that your pup can get some space if need be.

We also like the fact that this place is so well-lit at night, so that our dog can still safely enjoy off-leash time in the summer when the sun goes down; there are also water fountains in and outside the park areas to keep things cool, which as you know is key for any active dog in AZ.

This is a large dog park with two sides, active and non-active. The active is mostly larger dogs. Mostly the dogs are good and most of the owners pick up after their dog. Some owners are too busy talking to each other they miss their dog doing their business. This is one of the better dog parks that I've been to.

Great dog park. Well maintained. We often like to go later in the evening when it's not extremely packed. There are restrooms near by the baseball fields.

The place? 10/10. Some of the dog owners? Eh.

This place is expansive and so clean, I definitely plan on making it a regular spot from here on out! I brought both my dogs for the first and second time this previous week, and my girl loved seeing other dogs, smelling everything, and walking the perimeter!

There hasn’t been any issues w dog behavior, although one thing happened the other day where a small dog tried to take a biscuit from my Kangal. (I had forgot I had the treat in my bag till another dog sniffed it out, so I needed to give it to my dog and get rid of it.) I made sure he didn’t take my dog’s food while he was eating it. An old woman, definitely over three times my age, the owner of the dog, then proceeded to loudly berate me and attempt to publicly shame me for not bringing treats for every dog. I told her I don’t own other dogs, so I only had what was for my two. She then started spiraling about agression, and I told her that if her dog was going to be agressive then she should not have brought it. She tried to call her dog back, but it had no recall and I just had my dog follow me away from it.

It was a strange incident to occur on my second time being there, but I won’t let some bitter people cause me to stay away. Almost every other person I have met there has been lovely and very kind to someone who is new there like me. Very grateful for that~!

Such a fantastic dog park. Dog owners are always very nice and keep watch of their pups. I’m never worried about aggressive dogs because all the dogs are great! The very few times scuffles have happened, they’re always resolved quickly.
The maintenance staff keep the park looking beautiful!
