Bryan is an exceptional drum instructor. My son has been studying with him for 6 years, beginning at the age of 7. As a professional musician and public school music teacher myself, I am continually impressed by the musicianship, technical mastery, and quality of sound that my son is achieving through this instruction. He is able to play multiple styles/genres and enjoys performing.. He can play by ear and read drum scores with fluency thanks to Bryan’s instruction.

I told my son that he needed to pick an instrument to play, he chose the drums. The day of his lesson he was telling me that he didn’t want to play the drums anymore and that he changed his mind. He was trying to get me to cancel. I told him we weren’t going to cancel 2 hours before his lesson. I told him he had to at least go to this one and if he didn’t like it we can change to something else. When I picked him up he had a totally different attitude. He was excited and he definitely wanted to keep going. He really liked Bryan. We have only had one lesson so far but I can say Bryan is very patient and a very good instructor for my son to completely change his attitude like he did.

My son has been taking lessons with Bryan at the Drummers Den for over 10 years. He is now in college in NYC getting paid gigs and cutting albums with a well-known NYC-area touring band. He was a pure beginner with Bryan all those years ago. Bryan has turned him into a professional drummer through patience and lots of one on one training. So, I am able to state absolutely that Bryan has the talent, skill and patience to work with you or your drummer will ALL LEVELS of skill. Not some YMCA-like School of Rock - a talented drummer who will give your student the one on one training and practice skills to take him from a newbie to a skilled drummer. Ask Bryan for our email if you need a more detailed recommendation. We are HUGE fans! All of Bryan's 5-star reviews are well-deserved.

1/17/13 Bin trying to put into words for months all the things I think about this experience. Thinking, what brings a 40 something mother of 2 to the seemingly insane conclusion that drum lessons make sense not only for her 12 year old son but also for her? Yes, my teenage son and I take drum lessons together at The Drummer's Den. Crazy? Maybe, but so much fun!!! Along with staying connected to my kids interests in music, I get to learn what I never thought I could. Brian Hawkensworth at The Drummer's Den hooked us up with everything we needed from lessons to the necessary equipment at very reasonable prices. My first concern was neither my son nor I knew how to read music at all. Brian has that covered. He teaches us weekly at our pace, kindly and with the patience of a steel girder. (Not an easy job for him.) I fired my therapist. There is nothing more therapeutic and emotionally satisfying than pounding on drums daily. My youngest wants to take guitar and when he's ready The Drummer's Den has lessons for that too. The last and greatest thing for me about playing the drums is I'm finding out that our drum kit is also my exercise equipment. I lost 20 lbs in 2 months without even trying. I highly recommend music lessons at The Drummer's Den for anyone of any age that is looking for fun with the kids, looking to try something new, looking for therapy, weight loss or just looking for fun!!!! I am a former student of Bryan Hawkesworth and a long time customer of The Drummer's Den. I began taking lessons with Bryan when I was eight years old. I am now seventeen and applying to Berklee College of Music. The progress I made having Bryan as a teacher is unparalleled. I purchased a used drum kit from The Drummer's Den for a substantially low price and have been nothing but happy with it. I strongly recommend The Drummer's Den and am beyond grateful for having met Bryan and taking lessons from him.
