Technically challenging but not impossible for a beginner hiker. Beautiful views and the pools were peaceful and clean. Trail is on the thin side so passing etiquette is required. Not dog friendly.
This is my favorite trail here in Catalina State Park. It's quite challenging the more you hike up. Very scenic though. Make sure to bring plenty of water.
What a magestic place. Great for nature trail hiking. Pathways are crushed stones and sand. Bring hiking stick for ascending amd descending hills. Keep your head on a swivel as there can be rattlers on the trail and off the trail.
Beautiful trail but prepare for an arduous journey if you're going to the pools. I had heat exhaustion, even though I wore a hat, took and drank plenty of water. Not a trip for the feint of heart!
Catalina state park & the Romero canyon are great. Do come and spend some time. If there is/was snow on the mountain top or rain within the week you may want to be prepared to cross the flowing creek :)

Romero Canyon Trail. Rating: [out of 5]. For: Uphill, long if you go all the way to the top. Bush Poppies. Romero Canyon is a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers. The trail is shady and along a creek bed for the first half. There is a strong scent of bay laurel in the air.
