“If I could give Lake Pleasant Assisted Living 10 stars, I would. My elderly Mom was placed in Lake Pleasant after being in another group assisted home for 7 months. The care and compassion at Lake Pleasant are EXCELLENT! From the beginning, the owner, Vanessa, has made sure my Mom’s room had everything my Mom needed to make her feel at home. My Mom enjoys looking outside through the glass French doors in her room, to the patio. My Mom has always felt uncomfortable “asking for help”. The staff at LP has an anticipatory methodology of stopping to visit and chat with the patients and tending to their needs. Most patients are quiet and the staff provides the social conversations and attention that feed my Mom’s soul. Her dementia has improved, her memory has improved, her BP has improved . She even remembers the staff’s names which was unheard of at the former home. My mom has laughed, and calls me with cute stories of the day’s events and is very vibrant coming out of her shell. . With the assistance of her PT, she enjoys using the putting green. My Mom shares stories of her life with the staff because they are attentive and listen patiently. My Mom calls her caregiver, her Angel. Such a blessing that I know my Mom’s health and social needs are being met and she can live out her remaining years in joy and peace.”

“What a wonderful shop, right on Main Street in historic Florence. You will find a lot of handmade crafts here, and some of them are from all over the United States. The owners not only make a lot of these products themselves; they have friends all over the country who send them things to put in their store. You will find anything from handwoven blankets and towels to keychains and bags. The husband does a lot of woodwork, and the bench you see in the picture was handcrafted by him. Make sure you grab his business card while you are there, as he carves custom furniture for around the house! Whether you are a local or just a tourist passing through, this store has something for everyone! Highly recommended!”

“Right off the main street through town is a small cafe to the right. It has an unassuming posture, but the atmosphere is bursting with good vibes. A U-shaped counter and a few small tables won't seat many customers, but this fosters a sense of family among patrons. We went there for breakfast and enjoyed our meals, made with simple ingredients; portions are very generous. I have to recommend the Hodge Podge, which is a heaping mound of diced ham, egg, potato and more, served with toast and jam. The managers are Jim, who is the main cook, his wife Kathy. Jeanie was our server. Everyone is friendly in a folksy way. We'll make a point of coming back for more!”

“Nice coffee shop in an old historic home. Right next to some new high rises. Ordered the special of the day, which was great. It was a hot drink too, and I usually order cold brew. Look forward to trying that next time. I also ordered their healthier cookie with oats, nuts, and dried berries which was pretty good too. The girl taking our order was also friendly and helped explain some of the menu items to us. They have one larger front room (pictured below) as well as another smaller room with a couch and some other chairs, that is also where they make the coffee.”

Since I’m counting my calories I asked for nutrition chart they didn’t have it and it doesn’t have it in menu neither. I would suggest they add it. “This is the best gym I've ever gone to and probably the best kept secret in town in the way of gyms! Matt (the owner) is also the trainer for all members. He gets to know you personally and discusses your current fitness level and fitness goals. He then develops well thought-out, organized workouts for each day you plan to come in. Each workout is different from the last and different from everyone else's. The workouts are segmented into sets so you are easily able to see the plan for the session. He shows you how to correctly do each move and prioritizes safety and form above speed and weight. Matt walks around the gym guiding each member and lets you move at your own pace (which I find to be much more pleasant that working with a trainer in a person one-on-one session as I always then feel the need to rush). I have honestly never gotten bored working out at Matt's gym and always enjoy my time there (I typically go 3x/wk). Matt is very personable and approachable as are all of the members of the gym. There is a wide variety of members from young to older and of all body types and fitness levels. Everyone is friendly and the environment is comfortable (quint essential safe place in a world of otherwise not so gyms). The membership is a flat monthly rate and it is not difficult to start, pause or cancel your membership (unlike nearly all of the franchised gyms). The equipment in Matt's gym is top notch and there is just about everything imaginable there in the way of strength training. In the way of training, I consider this to be my forever gym.”
