Ellen was the back-up midwife during my homebirth, as there were two of us in active labor at the same time.

She arrived when I was in active labor and had such a calm, respectful, and unobtrusive presence. She ended up playing a key role in my son’s birth, as he had shoulder dystocia. She confidently & expertly helped to maneuver him out. I was able to birth and help push him out, without fear because I felt held in her skill & expertise.

I am forever grateful to her & Lael Stimming for their skilled help & loving support in bringing my son into the world. Having had a prior previous traumatic c-sxn, being under the care of these wonderful women was a big reason I was able to have my son at home as a VBAC. His birth was an empowering experience that I will cherish forever.

Ellen was one of the most professional and respectful midwives I have had the pleasure of working with. Along with her midwife partner Evaly Long, Ellen provided me with services during my pregnancy and postpartum time with a wealth of medical knowledge, thoughtful interactions, and constant and consistent consideration of my personal health and well-being. Every appointment felt like being with a friend who also provided me with wonderful advice and support to have the best pregnancy and postpartum time I've had yet (this is my third baby). Thanks to Evaly and Ellen, I had complete trust in the safety of myself and my baby, and I would highly recommend Ellen to women in the San Fransisco area any day.

One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was choosing to do a home birth with Ellen. Going to the doctor felt a bit like being on a conveyer belt but Ellen was so different. She was so supportive every step of the way but also really informative. When choices needed to be made she always explained all options, gave me time to do my own research and never judged any decisions that I made.

The night/morning of my labor and delivery I couldn’t have asked for more. She was very supportive to my husband so that he could help care for me. She kept me informed of the process each step of the way. After my daughter was born she stayed with us to answer questions, and provide support. Her postpartum care was wonderful-she was available for questions via phone outside of appointments and continued to provide us with support, education and resources.

Most importantly the connection I felt with Ellen was amazing and very nurturing. She is exactly the person I wanted taking care of me during such an intense and intimate time.
