Great local park. The park does charge admission to park in the lot or you can park outside and walk in.Nice place for a picnic or group gathering. Just remember the weekends and holidays the place gets packed. This is a great place for fishing from the shore or you can rent a boat. Paddle or canoe. The lake is mainly planted with trout but there are catfish, bluegills, and bass in the lake. The park does charge a small fee for fishing. It also a great place to go for a walk. There is a trail, about half of it paved, that goes around the lake.
A local gem. This East Bay Regional Parks has just about everything: camping, hiking, boating, bird watching, fishing, family picnics (barbecue grills, picnic tables). Highly recommended.
The Brandon trail is very popular with small group of dog walkers and bike riders. From the golf course parking lot the trail goes up the ridge with a relatively steady incline for a little under 2 miles. At the top, the trail junction offers more choices.
We love to trail ride our horses in this park, there are really good, wide trails with shade that is welcome in the summer. You can meet bikers and loos e dogs on the trails at times. If you go past the shooting range you can hear the gun shots at times.
Amazing campsite! Plenty of people, but still felt very private and peaceful. Close enough to the city the you can go there if you need to. I had to walk there after a critter got into my food; be sure to secure your good at night! Nice hiking trails, and fairly close to the marina, where you can rent boats!
