Everyone at both locations are absolutely some of the most caring people that I have ever met. They listen and do not underestimate not belittle your concerns. Absolutely wonderful experiences every time.
Yesterday, on my way to have cataract surgery on my right eye, I closed my left eye and could not tell if the car in front of me had a license plate.
Many of you can relate to not being able to read a license plate number anymore. Fewer will relate to my day job. A week or so ago, I was level at 45,000 feet, cruising at Mach 0.82, closing on similar type opposite-direction traffic. That's a closing speed of well over 1000 mph. ATC announced the traffic.. my Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) cautioned, "Monitor vertical speed". My (much younger) co-pilot announced, "Traffic in sight, 12 o'clock". Scanning intently, I saw NOTHING... seconds tick by very slowly in that scenario. Then ATC reported, "Traffic no factor". TCAS announced, "Clear of conflict" and my co-pilot said, "That looked like another Challenger 350".
Right! Dare I tell him that I saw nothing?
I used to have 20/15 vision. Now, I could not spot an airplane or read a license plate number. It's a depressing realization. And, no matter what your occupation is, you don't want 'just anyone' messing with your eyeballs! I had done a lot of soul-searching and, after much research, decided that it would only be done by Dr. Gagnon; there was simply too much at stake.
I am THRILLED and (very much) relieved to report that less than 24 hours later, I closed my left eye and not only read the license plate numbers in front of me, but the orange sticker and the 'Jack loves Grandma' license plate frame!
Everyone involved in my cataract procedure was truly exceptional. From Lorie and the staff in Pleasanton, to the consummate professionals at Stanford Valleycare in Livermore; my experience from start to finish was outstanding!
Unbelievably, my vision tested 20/15 today ...it's like having 25 years rolled back. Clear vision, vivid colors and no more eye tension. Dr. Gagnon, you ARE da' man!!
