Went here for a quick 2 mile loop. The trail does offer some challenges with the elevation gain from the parking lot to the top. You could just go up to the lake and turn back. The trail is laced with wildlife. As I walked the trail we noticed several types of birds and tiny lizards everywhere we looked.

It's a good place to hike with good trails and great views of Livermore. The only things is the road you have to drive on to get there. It is very thin, and at some points only 1 car can fit on the road. The corners make it very dangerous if someone is speeding coming toward you because their is no lines in the road, it's like Paterson pass but with more blind spots.

I consider this place a hidden gem for mtn biking. The climb is somewhat grueling, but the rocky decent is what makes this place fun. FUN, FUN decent!

I always announce my presence when approaching hikers. So if you're mtn biker, pls be courteous and let people know before you pass. I once saw a biker try to pass left but a small child got in his way. The biker somehow avoided the collision.

This place is pretty barren looking when you pull into the parking lot (which is free). There's no trees in sight at first, looks sunny, dry grass and bleak. I actually enjoyed my hike though and saw a coyote!!! There are a few pretty trees when you get further out on the trails, wildflowers and big boulders. There is a bathroom, maps and water fountain at the parking lot.

Nice trails with difficulty level easy to hard. Wont suggest during rains as slopes are steep at some places. Less crowded makes it more enjoyable.
