Oakland Public Library: Piedmont Avenue Branch

My favorite branch. Friendly librarians and security person.

Small but comfortable, in the morning always can find kids listening fairytales or singing songs.

I am living in the Piedmont Avenue area for a year, working on my 3rd book. Initially, when I saw the Piedmont branch building, I was a bit dismayed that it was so small. When I got inside, it was absolutely packed with people of all ages, colors, and sizes, reading, browsing, and all-in-all, being the
inspiration I needed. Boy! Did I come to the right place! The staff was so patient with me, a newby, and
their attention paid to the younger students was filled with lots of good, long term information, it was truly respectful of their young intellects.

Small library with fun and friendly staff. I would attend the story time and sing along every Tuesday at ten. I recommend coming a bit early as the space is pretty small and it's pretty popular with the moms and nannies in the area. The librarian is great with the kids and does a great job of balancing songs and interactive dances.Considering how small the library is they still have a great selection of children's books, audio CDs and movies to check out.
