“I've been loyal to this lavenderia since 2015, I drive 20 minutes to be here as they're worth the while. They're always clean, always cleaning. Very kind staff. Always greet them. Because they're fantastic. Coins are only useful for the vending machines.”

“This building is a hidden gem of the East Bay. It is a labyrinth of private nooks perfect for contemplation and remembrance. They welcome visitors both to admire the architecture, designed in part by Julia Morgan, as well as to memorialize their loved ones. Additionally, they host musical performances in conjunction with local arts groups that both feed the local culture and, I think, celebrate the residents.”

“A friend and I made a quick detour into Oakland to check out Burma Superstar on our last trip to the bay, and it was absolutely worth the time. The restaurant has a reputation for having excellent food and a solid dining experience and it didn't disappoint. It's in a nice part of Oakland, and if you're lucky you might just be able to find a parallel parking spot nearby! Pro Tip: Use the Yelp app to put yourself in line if you're going at a busy time! When I went, we didn't realize this was an option, but luckily we went on a weeknight and there wasn't much of a crowd so we were inside the restaurant within 10 minutes of arrival. Even if you're stuck outside for a bit, they have benches and heaters outside so you aren't uncomfortable. Now onto the food...I can honestly say that I didn't dislike anything I had to eat at Burma Superstar (an accomplishment, I promise!). I had the Spicy Noodles as my main dish, and the Salt and Pepper Calamari as my starter -- both excellent options. The coconut rice is a nice amount of coconut flavor while maintaining the innate sweetness therein as well. One thing to note, the Samusas are NOT to be confused with Samosas (Indian). The taste is different, but I can see some relation as the execution is similar. Not a food item, but added bonus: they have coconut water in-coconut! They'll crack the coconut and add a straw for you, and at the end of the night, they'll also completely break the coconut for you to be able to eat the meat if you'd like. Overall, I have 0 hangups in saying that Burma Superstar does live up to the hype you've been hearing about it -- go check it out!”

“The staff here is very professional. If you can ask for Joseph. He is knowledgeable, and pays good attention to detail. Plus there is Orbit coffee right next door that has good sandwiches and snacks.”

“The best in Oakland for the price. Have loved these guys forever and it's the first call I made as soon as we found out we had to evacuate our area. They didn't let us down and in fact treated us like royalty and went our of their way to help us. I can't wait to go back for a fun getaway.”

“I have been a patient of Dr. Irwin’s for one year. When I first began to see her, I could barely walk and had to use a cane. Although I had previously had an active lifestyle, I had suffered a moderately severe accident. She and her staff are extremely helpful and create a friendly atmosphere. I truly do not believe I would be able to walk as well, with as short of a recovery time, as I do now, if not for Dr. Irwin’s treatment. Patrice, who is a massage therapist I often see Is pleasure to talk to and a relief ????to have a session with.Dr. Irwin’s deep understand and years of experience support a very pragmatic and evidence-based (some may disagree) approach. I hope the great staff and dr. continued to so be available for me.”

“The only place I found in the Easy Bay that was responsive and easy to rent a speaker for a small wedding reception. Pascal is friendly and easy to get a quote, showed me how to set up the speaker, and essentially charged me a one day rental to be picked up the day before and returned the day after. Great customer service and highly recommend for small audio rental needs.”

“My dad was moved to Meadowview Assisted Living Center back in August 2020, right in the midst of the pandemic. It was a difficult adjustment for him, and me. The hardest part, was the inability for me to go in to visit him. I had to trust that the staff were caring for him the way he deserved. There was definitely an adjustment period, but the director, Sherry, and her staff worked hard to make him feel at home. He is very happy living there now. I feel very comforted in the fact that I am in constant contact with Sherry. They all care very much about the residents.”

“Excellent food but not a great pick if you are in a hurry. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was amazing. Super crispy fried chicken even with the slaw on the sandwich with it. Fries are nice and crispy, you get your choice of regular, curly or sweet potato and I got the regular which were delicious. Hubs had the regular burger on a gluten free bun with his pick of fixings and sweet potato fries. The burger came out on a regular bun, when I asked about (it looked just like my regular bun) they whisked it away and returned with a gluten free bun. Burger was cooked nicely and was a legit, house made patty. Sweet potato fries were also delicious. Great service, food was just a bit slow but we weren't in any hurry so not a big deal. They also have a nice looking cocktail menu, good wine and beer selections.”

“My favorite West Oakland bar. Giant outdoor space in the back, with it's own back bar. Pinball and pool in the far back. Awesome bar food with vegan options. Great live music from locals and touring bands often as well”
