“Their gas prices are competitive with Costco without the long lines. I find the staff friendly. There is a low staff turnover so they know their regulars. They sell propane. You pay a premium for propane for the convenience. Go somewhere else if you do not like it. They sell diesel fuel. I do not know if the diesel price is competitive. Access is a little awkward on two busy streets. Debit cards only. Then $0.35 charge. They do not accept credit cards. Just pay cash. They now accept credit cards for gas. $50 min purchase. If your total comes to less than $50 and you pay at the pump, you still pay $50. Be careful. Do not use unless you know you will buy more than $50 of gas.”

“I'm so happy! The website itself isn't that great so I had to order through phone and the florist was so nice and professional! I ordered flowers for Latin Mother's day which is May 10. I put my order in the day before and ordered the cottage garden to be delivered the next day. They arrived around 10AM and my mom was so happy! She sent me the attached picture. “The Writer’s Block has added something wonderful to this city - for a place that likes to read and drink coffee as much as Anchorage does, it was a crime that up until last year we had no independent bookstore/cafe in town. Don’t get me wrong, I love Title Wave (and its proximity to Middle Way & Kaladi!). But as delightful as a secondhand bookseller near quality restaurants is, it’s not quite the same as a quirky independent establishment like this one, that is equal parts bookstore, bistro, and event space. The Block is awesome. The owners are often here, and almost always present at the plentiful (and awesome) events they host. You’ll encounter friendly regulars too, as well as folks on dates and others having meetings and others sitting solo with a notebook or a computer. The atmosphere could not be more cozy, inviting, and inclusive. And the food and drinks are outstanding. Quality local brews of both the coffee and the beer variety are always on offer, as are teas and creative cocktails - the Block mojito is simply perfect on a sunny summer night. To warm you up for those cooler times, the menu is full of hearty comfort food from around the world, especially Jewish and Latin American classics (drawing on some of the owners’ heritage). Basically, the Block as something for every season and every eater, and it’s all high-quality so you can’t go wrong!! The humans who established Writers Block are owed a debt of gratitude by Anchoragites. Thank you, Block, for shining a light on great books and using your space to promote the arts and marginalized voices, and thanks for the delicious libations and noshes as well!”

“The food was good, mostly prepared the way I like it. The bacon wasn't as well done as I prefer (burnt to a blackened extra crisp) but everything else was exactly as I asked. The wait staff was fast, observant, and friendly. The coffee, better than most. Parking is in back and you have to walk around to the street front entrance, difficult for me with mobility issues, but I was invited to use the emergency only exit to get directly to the parking lot as I was leaving.”

Flaky puff pastry encases fresh double patties with a bit of acidity from pickles and tomatoes. For the price, it’s a steal for this level of quality in craft and ingredients. I also loved their usage of local soda purveyors - the ginger beer has a serious kick to it.”
