I always thought Best Buy was just a box store. Then I met Joseph - Joe - at the Walnut Creek store. He is part of Magnolia, an educated, high-end, audio-video department of Best Buy.
Joe solved a complicated problem for me and now any Best Buy with a Magnolia Department has my vote!!i!!

I have been shopping for a laptop for the last 2 years and as new technology items come on the market I knew I had to focus on the essential items I desired and not be drawn astray by some new cosmetic item. My search was beginning to get tiresome since I was searching all physical stores with an electronic department and online websites. I went into Best Buy to purchase a HDMI splitter and found the one I had seen on their app. While I was there I saw this open box laptop that was perfect and I had the best customer service experience because the associate gave me tons of knowledge about what I was purchasing.
I was pleasantly surprised by the experience of shopping in store. It was not horribly crowded, masks were required but it was not bad. My salesperson very knowledgeable and took just enough time to explain the nuances of the latest technology. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything. I got what I wanted and took it home. I would usually shop online but I wanted to see the difference in the TV pictures. I am glad I did. I brought in the middle upper range and I am very pleased. No stress. No regrets.
In general everything was good.
BUT the line for online pickup and curbside pickup was really long. I walked right into the store to just shop for what I wanted. All of these people are waiting in a really long line next to a sign that says “Skip the line-shop online!” Uhhhhhhh, I think you may need more staff to keep that skipping the line promise.
