If unusual and rare plants are what you want, Annie's is the place for you. Two acres of endless plants and stunning demo gardens. The plants are so rare and unusual that even a garden nerd as myself was amazed by all the different varieties (three different Nemophila menziesii colors!), but all will still grow as easily as "regular" plants. They have plants for every climate and situation, and no horrendous "dwarf" plants with constricted roots, so when you plant them in your garden, they will grow to their best form. They offer essentially all native plants, plus an excellent range of collector's-item South African bulbs. Too far to drive? Annie's will also send you your plants in the best packaging ever, preventing any damage to the plants and ensuring they arrive just as they were from the nursery. The sheer varieties and number of species make it very possible to buy hundreds of plants without even trying. Service are very kind and helpful, and gift cards are available (for the ultimate present).

I ordered some perenials from several sources recently. Annie's plants arrived well packaged and in great shape, and are still looking great in the ground. The other two company's plants looked questionable from the beginning, and now I can't tell if they are still even alive. I guess I'll find out in the spring. I'll stick with Annie's in the future. In fact I'm kind of addicted to the website, and have moved many more plants to my Wish List. I'm glad I discovered Annie's.

Impossible to leave empty handed! Ok so they have signs for all the plants to show what they look like in bloom as well as give u all the necesary info (zone, water, sun, shade, clay, etc). Their demo gardens are inspiring. Awesome rare edibles. Reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Annie herself is a doll!

High prices. HIGHEST QUALITY! The prices are about double than my local high-quality nursery, but the prices are justified. Every single plant that I’ve ever ordered is truly exceptional. I wish I had the money to buy every single plant from Annie’s. The packaging is really well thought out and I get it in a day here in SoCal. 100% positive experience over a few years planting seasons.

I really love this place if you are local to northern California.
It's not the most glamorous of nurseries, there's rows upon rows of rotted looking tables filled with so many things you've never seen in your life.
It has some shabby chic eclectic type feel everywhere on the grounds, but don't be put off by it's humble appearance, there's a lot of bizarre gems here to be found if you like unusual exotic things that can handle some our most brutal climates. When I lived in SF and then the East Bay almost anything I could buy here was perfect to grow into something unusual and lovely. Now in Sacramento.... you have to be a bit careful. Almost everything there grows lovely regionally. But if you are out of that area be wary of the siren song wordage of the catalogue. Be very careful and purchase only things you're sure you'll be able to accommodate in your zone. Shipping is expensive, but very well packed. If you like exotic plants you're used to it.
