  A warm, inclusive, and supportive faith community that encourages personal spiritual growth as well as justice-oriented engagement with the world.
  
  Sunday services are at 9:30 and 11:15, and there is a Wednesday evening vespers service as well. Worship at MDUUC touches there heart and simulates the intellect, but most importantly offers spiritual renewal in a beautiful natural setting that overlooks the East Bay hills. The Religious Education (Sunday school) programming for kids is age-appropriate and of the highest quality.

  It's the people that makes the difference... check out the seminars and classes given throughout the week... it's one of the most philanthropic and all-faiths embracing churches I've ever visited.
  
  My family has been a member for a couple of years and it gets better all the time as I get to know the individual members.. they are quite an amazing group of people.. with so many involved in social and environmental activism to assist the under-served communities throughout the Bay Area and beyond. There is even a display of church sponsored groups after service every Sunday, providing info of over a dozen committees working on various issues such as immigration reform, LGBT rights, awareness of racism, environmental green committee, etc..
  
  They have a really good sexuality course for 8th graders that teach them the reality of what to anticipate as they become mature without judgement but focusing on building a trusting relationship and self protection.
  
  The only thing that can improve is the doughnuts served during the fellowship hour.. the Unitarians do not promote junk food but for some reason it was introduced into this chapter, and it's not gone away yet! Very common in many churches.

  This is a church like no other I've found. (I “found” it May 22, 2011.) The ministers, a husband and wife team, are rising stars in the denomination. Their sermons are full of interest, humor, and wisdom. They don't give answers but invite you to think about things that really matter. The congregation, a lively group of all sorts of people, learn from each other and have an open-minded approach to truth. They appear to be spiritual without being "religious." There are no doctrines or required beliefs, just a commitment to personal growth and community outreach. There are classes for all ages on Sunday and through the week, plus opportunities to work on a variety of concerns from peace to immigration reform.
  
  The campus is a little hard to find but worth the effort. Handsome buildings under tall trees give a feeling of being out in nature instead of the city. The church is large but the congregation is growing so fast there are now two Sunday services, at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Dress is informal and everyone is friendly and welcoming.
  
  Oh, I almost forgot, good coffee and lively conversation after the service.
