(April 6, 2019, 5:24 pm)So lucky to live near mt Diablo. So many beautiful hikes. Perfect time to hike is spring. Lots of flowers, water flowing through (there are waterfalls too) and not as hot.

(March 29, 2019, 12:41 am)Very cool state park that is just a few minutes drive from Walnut Creek. Everything was very green in March.
It has many picnic areas, and it seems like it has a decent amount of hiking trails.
The only caveat is that it's cash only. -

(March 22, 2019, 12:50 am)A beautiful 7.2 mile hike on Deer Flat Fire Road to Eagle Peak on Mt. Diablo. This trail is loaded with lovely views and lots of inclines to get a great workout! Because of all the rain we have had recently, the creek was flowing providing soothing sounds during our hike. Once we made it to the junction, we sat at the picnic tables and enjoyed a yummy lunch with this spectacular view. Highly recommend!!

(March 18, 2019, 11:14 pm)Absolutely amazing! This was just a quick trip for me, in town for work and wanted to do something I've never done before. I'm from Illinois where the closest to mountains we have seem to be speed bumps. So climb (drive) a mountain it is! Honestly, I was white knuckled the majority of the way up. But the roads are paved and maintained wonderfully. You need to be careful of the bikers (with calves of steel), and the random gang of HUGE turkeys and what I think were quail. Appreciate there are Bobcats in the area as well. Your drive up will be worth it when you get to the very top, and climb 2 small flights of stairs to the observation area. Unobstructed 360 degree views. It was breathtaking!
Side note- the ride down is a lot quicker and more fun!
Cost: $10. Worth it! -

(January 20, 2019, 11:24 am)Beautiful views everywhere! Great place to drive to and catch a break with friends and family. Roads are decently maintained with plenty of picnic spots as you go. There is an entry fee of $5. They accept cards and cash. I would recommend you to carry some cash though. Once you reach the summit, you can enjoy beautiful views and it can get pretty windy and cold. Always carry extra layers. There is an observation deck and also a gift shop. The deck has some interesting information about the place. Do check it out. Overall it was a great experience. Would definitely recommend this place for an afternoon drive when the weather is nice which is pretty much every day here.
