Camp Chawanakee

Nice Boy Scouts camping place. With many Merit Badges to work in. Some examples are shotgun shooting, climbing, archery, and life saving. Though there are many more. It may seem like a dream but it isn’t because of these following reasons. The tents cabins are a little dirty and small and have bugs. The showers have dead cockroaches but that’s not that bad. Wear shoes in the showers. The food is ok. But it’s actually pretty fun and it’s cool. The staff are all very nice and the campsites are beautiful.

This Scout camp is amazing!!! They have swimming, sailboats, rifle shooting, horses, nature classes, canoeing, astronomy, and many, many more activities. They provide full meals, bathrooms, and showers. If you get a chance to belong to scouts, join!!! You won't regret it.

Food was iffy, dust was literally everywhere, but overall I liked this camp and would go again. This camp offers more of a merit badge diversity then camp Royaneh, a camp our troop has as a main camp. Merit badge classes start at 8:30 and end at 12:20, before lunch. You then have all day to do whatever. Places like the waterfront and rifle, etc open at 2:15 for open access to go to. Some merit badges like Chess are taught later, at 7 pm. Showers are available. Most if not all campsites have a beach right on the lake. Great photo opportunities every day. The dining hall is open for you to pop in at any time (including at midnight) to make a sandwich or get something else to eat, or charge your devices. There is a charging strip on one wall on the inside, and one on each side of the building for sitting outside. Overall good camp, I intend to return.
