I need to get to this place. I have see a lot of the upper Kern north fork. Beautiful but not drive up like this area. Don't go by urself, a two ORV event a must + all the stuff you hope you won't need. Check weather, stay a couple of days.
See u up there late September 2024..
I only stopped for a little while to take in the scenery, so I can't say much about the campground, other than there seems to be lots of parking. The vistas are quite nice!
The camp host Bob and his wife are amazing friendly personable full of information very sweet people the bathrooms are the cleanest bathrooms for pit toilets that I've ever seen they are amazingly clean and smell good no spider webs you just can't next to the water you just pull up and find the spot it's big there's plenty of spots it's only 12 bucks I only had to pay $6 because I have a disabled vet pass cut a couple trout one at like 5:00 p.m. and one at like 8:30 a.m.
Amazing views at any hour. Parking available. Dirt roads give path to waters edge. Pass required and available at kiosk as you enter the park. Restrooms, water access to clean up, picnic tables under shady trees. Boat launch. Extremely dark at night so bring flashlights. Stargazing is unbeatable !!!
Pros:
Beautiful scenery lots of space to park great neighbors. Weather was nice and sunny all morning . Park rangers are very nice and friendly. Bathrooms everywhere. At night you can see the stars it looks amazing i saw a shooting star ๐. if you have a boat or jet ski they have a ramp and a dock.
Cons:
Mid day without fail strong winds ๐. Sand is soft in some areas and vehicles can get stuck easily. couple of parts can be difficult to take a trailer in.
No showers ๐ญ.
