“I love this place. Maria gets our family’s haircut cut perfect every time! No matter what hair style or hair color you ask of her, she will get it right. Her daughter also cuts hair very well. Maria is an honest business owner and the price for her haircuts are just and fair. I like that I can come in and I don’t have to listen to screeching music that bleeds my ears like at other salons. I can walk in and relax. Kids love this place too, because every time they walk out of this place there is a bowl of candy waiting for them! However, the salon does need a little re-touch and update. But even though the equipment is a little rugged and outdated, I still recommend this place because Maria and her staff have the professional skills that can over look the equipment’s usage. I completely recommend this place to family and friends.”

“Bangkok Street Food was recommended to me as unique restaurant in Bakersfield to try out. And it really was a good choice. The inside is quite comfortable, but the restaurant and location lend to a more "order and go" feel. There are 15 tables so about 30 people can sit comfortably inside the restaurant. It feels almost like eating at your grandma's house: cozy and relaxing, and waiting for some really good food. Being a Thai restaurant, there is one dish you can use to compare restaurants: Drunken Noodles. This place hits all the right notes: spicy chili, minty basil, juicy meat. The noodles did clump together, but it kind of made it a bit easier to eat. Maybe it was the atmosphere, but I found myself enjoying this place a lot more than Chef's Choice Downtown. It might be a bit hard to get a parking spot here, but you can just as easily order for pick up. This is definitely a place to try.”

“This lovely little bakery has some very sweet and customer oriented service staff. They go out of their way to help you with your order and be very personable. The product is perfection as well. The prices are a bit higher than I would like but these day quality is pricey. Or as the old saying goes “You get what you pay for.” and each bit is better than the last. It’s so good and lots of fun as you can get very small finger cakes up to larger style occasion cakes. My only request is that they start selling the buntti (tiny cakes) in smaller quantities like even just a 1/2 dozen this would help senior on a fixed income as well as kids who want to get something with their own money so it would be more affordable. “Maggie’s Sunrise Cafe is my favorite breakfast spot in Bakersfield! I drive clear across town a few times per month to enjoy breakfast with my girlfriends. We could meet someplace more centrally located, but we all agree that the drive is worth it! I’ve ordered several different menu items and never once been disappointed with my choice. The portions are huge and the service is top notch. Maggie herself personally checks on us during every visit. One of my favorite things about Maggie’s is the family vibe that the employees share. They seem to really enjoy working there. I have recommended Maggie’s to all my friends and family!”
