First time visiting this sanctuary and finally our was a beautiful sunny day. The animals were relaxed and the grounds were clean. I loved the outdoor decor and natural stream running along the compounds. Our guide and the director were welcoming, informative and honest about the care and history of the animals. Shambala is a beautiful home with a committed hard working staff!

One of the best experiences of wild life viewing I've ever seen. The animals are all very well cared for and enjoying their lives. The tour was very educational and interesting.

    What a WONDERFUL place!!!!
My husband and I were gifted a tour as a Christmas gift from our daughter. Well- if you want to see how small preserves should be run, this is the place. We were amazed by the knowledge of the staff and volunteers. the cats were absolutely beautiful and seemed happy in their well kept settings that were made to satisfy their comfort and provide entertainment. And although I heard she can't come out all of the time, Mrs.Hedron did come out, answered questions and took pictures with us. You could easily see and feel her love of these cats. Tips.... wear tennis shoes or comfortable hiking type shoes. Bring a camera and a zoom lens if you have one. Do bring a picnic lunch! We went in winter but in summer we heard it can be pretty warm so bring your water bottle. Lastly, they had a cute gift type shop to help support the preserve. We purchased a cozy sweatshirt and some beautiful photos of some of the cats that we saw. Enjoy! I can't wait to return, hopefully for a twilight tour!

This is a really wonderful sanctuary if you ever want to see some big cats, learn about them and still feel good about how they're being treated. The volunteer workers are immensely respectful of the animals and all visitors are expected to be the same. Their mission to care for these majestic felines, that are unable to be released into the wild, is commendable. I can't think of a better wildlife organization to spend my money at.
