Everyone in the Parkinson’s community agrees that a complete exercise program is necessary to help fight the progression of Parkinson’s disease and improve the negative effects of the disease. But where do you start Parkinson’s Disease fitness? The number one recommendation that you hear repeatedly (i.e., Neurologists and support groups) is a boxing class.
Joining Rock Steady Boxing – VC\LA is an easy first step to take and can lead to a lifetime of learning about exercise, movement, strength training and boxing!
Rock Steady Boxing is a great way to deal with the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. It is a complete physical training program with attention to proper exercise, balance, form, eye hand coordination, strength, and voice skills. Learning boxing and boxing strategies is icing on the cake and one heck of a workout for the mind and body. It is non-contact and completely safe and fun.
Lisa and Evette, the owners of Rock Steady Boxing – VC\LA, are fun and caring. They take their role seriously in terms of educating students and creating a positive learning environment. It is obvious that they and the staff receive specialized training to assist those with symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. By the way, the staff is superb and very fun and caring as well.
We meet three times a week. The gyms are carefully selected as a safe place for Parkinson’s Disease students to get together. Everyone is friendly and very supportive with each other. You quickly become one of the group with a shared interest in fighting Parkinson’s Disease.
Now we “fight” Parkinson’s disease everyday with our new boxing skills.
    I highly recommend the program.

My husband David has been participating in Zoom classes of Rock Steady Boxing VC/LA 3x per week for three months. This is the third Rock Steady Boxing outfit that he has tried, and in our opinion it is the best organized and most thorough program he’s experienced. The owners/instructors Lisa and Yvette are personable and enthusiastic, and clearly well informed about the components of a program specifically tailored for people living with Parkinson’s.

Any doctor you speak to will tell you that exercise is the only sure thing to slow the progression of PD, so motivation is key. Lisa and Yvette have motivated David to commit to exercise and set fitness goals for himself; he’s even extended his exercise regimen to an additional 3 days per week! Committing to a class for 3 days a week makes it a priority, and keeps him focused for a full hour. Having coaches who provide feedback during class keeps him trying to do his best and keeps him from slacking off and cutting out before the class is over.

Finally, being an east coast “snowbird,” Zoom classes are the most logical solution to living in two locations; we can take his exercise instruction with us. In addition, he doesn’t need to be bothered driving to a gym, since his class is as close as the computer screen.

Rock Steady Boxing VC/LA on Zoom is a winner. We highly recommend it.

When I was diagnosed with PD I immediately joined Rock Steady Boxing VC/LA. I did so because I had been told that their program of boxing, weight lifting, balance exercises and stretching was tailor-made to slow down the progression of the disease. I have since learned In fact that nothing else has been found to do so.

The knowledgeable coaching staff has made the exercise's varied and challenging, a fact that I deem responsible for my VERY SLOW PROGRESSION.

As an aside, I am in much better physical and mental health as a result of having joined RSB. I have been in the program for a little over 3 1/2 years,

By the way, my wife is also in the program to support me and to stay in great physical shape.

I have been in the program fo a little over 3 years. Due to
