(August 5, 2019, 1:51 am)Stopped by here friday evening during the First Friday Bixby Knolls event. Great place to visit and the staff here was very knowledgeable and excited to share their knowledge. Current exhibit on water in Long Beach provided context on the changing landscape and evolving facilities to suit the needs of the community from early settlers, to the war efforts to present day. Lots of historical pictures capturing the changes.

Besides the varied exhibitions they put on during the course of the year, they host a great cemetery tour each year, bringing residents to life, and are home to an extensive archive. If you have some time, whether traveling through or living in the area, take some time and drop by.

Since 1995, HSLB has organized the annual historical cemetery tours, 'bringing the dead to life.' Partnering with the Long Beach Playhouse for actors, volunteers, and costumes, the Society presents graveside stories of those buried at the city's two oldest cemeteries, Long Beach Municipal Cemetery and Sunnyside Cemetery where more than 20,000 past area residents permanently rest.
