First time checking this place out and WOW! Is it ever on point and so much more! The vibrations and the aura this place holds is phenomenal! So many vibrational light beings inside this POWERHOUSE! Being bi racial and unfamiliar with our culture, we have strived to find communities that connect us with our African-American heritage and Compound has a way of doing that in so many facets. With the support of local black artists, and so many offerings within The Healing Arts Ministry, this place is most definitely a NEW FOUND HOME AWAY FROM HOME! Have been following their newsletter for many months familiarizing ourselves with what they offer and when we heard that there was a monthly open mic that definitely sparked our interests! Writing is an art form and it was such a pleasure to get on that stage and share our words with others. It was a quaint group with a little over 10 performers. We enjoyed the writing prompts and the time that we were given to jot down ideas. This event will be our go-to, as it is a safe, inclusive place to share our words with all. (Not only that, this open mic was different than the rest, in that the co-host was celebrating her bday.) If we're not mistaken her name was Shelly? EVERY WORD SPOKEN touched our hearts. The inspiration, the rawness, the depth...she combined it all in a way that touched every orifice of our being. We truly enjoyed the mixture of multi media compositions including: dance, music, fire, spoken word, digital flower visuals and the POWER OF THE SWORD. It was such an honor to experience this with her. HER ONENESS! HER CLARITY! HER PASSION! The journey in which she has partaken in, is one that we will never EVER forget! Her words we will never forget, each one wrapped around this body like the veins.COMPOUND WE WILL NEVER FORGET! Thank you THANK YOU for this gift. Thank you for reawakening our own self love! (The flowers that you gave to the audience members have been placed in the center of our altar, and will be dried and kept as a memory of you.)

As Shelly says "Hovering near love is a habit not a vow. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. All my worst pain came from not trusting my truth." Going forward we will ensure that love comes first, next to our own truth and that our crown is worn daily! AMEN ASHE AHO

The artwork is very eclectic and unique.The building structure and the layout is gorgeous and ties into all of the other artwork that they have displayed. From the outside grassy area, to the mirror displays, the box art, to the covered patio, it all screams LIFE! Was so excited to check out their monthly art installation 'TIDE POOLS'. There's a separate area for the monthly art installation and upon walking in to the area everything was dark and I was greeted with several displays. The rubbing alcohol provided a neat effect with the refrigeration so you can actually see the particles which would have otherwise been invisible to the naked eye. The best part of tide pools was in fact the bioluminescence and the wishing tank. I've seen bioluminescence in the ocean waves outside in the middle of the night, but the ability to see the effects up close was astonishing! We each were given a ceramic coin to make a wish on and then drop it in the tank and watch the bioluminescence light up as it floated to the bottom!!! I could have stayed inside that room and watched the bioluminescence over and over for hours! So much props to the artist who created this! Looking forward to their next installation!
