My son attending 2 weeks of Boy Scout Sea Base training. Its dated but the boys didn't care. My son said that they were able to make boring topics either interesting or fun. Teachers are great and helpful. Where else can an 11-Year-Old learn to use a Welding Torch.
Best kept secret in Long Beach. Helping youth enjoy this beautiful location and gain a love for the water.
It was my son's first camp with members from his new troop. As a last-minute signup, the director and staff were very patient and accomodating to make sure my son found classes in which he was both comfortable in taking and challenged sufficiently. My son learned much about kayaking in this
1st Annual Spring Aquatics Camp.
I highly recommend the Sea Base for aquatics training.

I've been serving in the capacity of an unpaid volunteer as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for over eight years now and have had the pleasure of visiting the Sea Base on a regular basis, doing "vessel exams" ensuring their vessels are all safe and comply with the rules and regulations of not only California, but the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
Each and every year this fleet of hundreds of vessels both large and small meet or exceed the USCG standards for safety at sea (while on the water).
That alone is impressive, but when you look at the overall base itself; the location and beauty of the area, the private beach, the resources, the multiple classrooms (where, yes, they teach everything from USCG safety classes all the way to advanced navigation), the sea base is an aquatic masterpiece, which someday, with any luck my grandchildren will enjoy and benefit from.
What a "gem!"
