Absolutely love this place! It is small, but the book selection is phenomenal. Also, the cafe space, including a pretty large outdoor area, is wonderful. I had a sandwich on Sunday that I am still daydreaming about on Wednesday! I think it was called the hippie sandwich and I had it made vegan.
This is a great bookstore/Cafe. The atmosphere is great, you can skim through their books and order a coffee. They have seating inside and also an outside area which is nice and calm as it is not facing the street but a parking lot. The prices are very moderate ($3.25 for a flat white, a price I last paid in the late eighties). The coffee is very good. But most importantly, the people who run the place are really nice and friendly, and very, very laid back. I love it!
I don't usually see kids here, but I bring my 6 year old daughter all the time. They have a nice Children's book selection and the coffee bar in the back also carries a delicious (not to mention cheap!) hot chocolate that can be made with oat milk. I love this little cozy bookshop.
Stories is a cafe/book store that is the ultimate spot to hang out in. The cafe serves coffee, kombucha, beer, and wine and has pastries by Clark Street. There’s a back patio and some indoor seating. Wifi is available for customers! There are also a lot of books to look through at decent prices. Love coming here to support small businesses and hang out!
Stories is a small bookstore and cafe in Echo Park. They have a wooden folding chess board available for patrons to play while they're in the cafe area. The board is very old and classic looking, and some of the wood squares are beginning to warp. The black pieces are missing a rook and have a “Sorry” piece in its place. Check the back counter of the cafe area (see photo for exact location) to find where the board is stored when not in use.
