This place is unbelievable! I came out of here with tons of pictures. There was so much to see. I spent a good amount of time there and barely made it out before closing and get a souvenir for me.
very nice mission. Lots to see. Did not know that Bob Hope was buried there. Most missions have an audio docent help you get around. this one did not. Otherwise it would have been higher.
I have done 7 of the 21 missions now. This has to be my second best so far. Love that the museum has plenty to see with many artifacts and history. The mission is extremely well kept and I also have to say the gift shop has very reasonable prices on gifts. The church itself is very pretty and the centerpieces and paintings are beautiful. Definitely worth the $5 admission price.
We go to church there often. Alter piece speaks to the history of the place. Pope visited so it was air conditioned. Many great stories, wonderful gardens, whole place is a grand museum. Bob Hope resting place is here! I wish the priests had not got rid of the peacocks, they added to the beauty of the place. Too messy I guess. See all the California mission churches
