L.A. Music Lessons

My name is Pete. This review is written to express my appreciation for the piano instruction I've been receiving. I could not be more glad that I decided to get lessons from this instructor (Dr. Andrew Boyle).

As an adult beginner on piano, and over 50 years old, I had wished to learn 2 things all of my life: 1) to read and write music, and 2) to play the piano. I've always loved music but was self-taught on guitar with limited results. In less than a year of piano lessons, and while gainfully over-employed, I am tremendously encouraged by what I have learned. I can now read music, I can play the piano, and I am enjoying this more than I can say.

About the instructor: due to distance, I have had most of my lessons over zoom although I sometimes go in person. My experience, therefore, says a lot about this instructor because A. Boyle has surprised me with his teaching methods. Some people you meet have uncommon gifts. In addition to his performance talents, Dr. Boyle is exceptionally great at making learning fun. He has an encouraging manner that allows him to take my wish to learn and bring it out. What really surprised me was realizing that he uses our time in the lessons to identify the learning tools and methods that are best suited to me.

In short, Dr. Boyle seems to have a love for learning that have caused him to become a master teacher so that he could bring out his student's desire to learn. It is a great experience to have that desire to learn music increased! My most heartfelt thanks for this great gift!

Andrew is a SPECTACULAR teacher! I’m studying music at the university level and even with that background, his breadth and depth of musical knowledge continuously amazes me. I’m always learning something new with him and his ability to communicate complicated ideas helps me to become a better musician. Will PROUDLY continue to take lessons with him!

Highly recommend piano lessons with Andrew! Our 4-year-old daughter said "Can we do another piano lesson?" as we walked away after our trial lesson - truly an enjoyable experience. Andrew is thoughtful and kind as he instructs, adding encouragements along the way.
The location is great - lots of street parking. And sitting in the living room of Andrew's home transports you to another era - the beautiful built in wood cabinetry, Craftsman architecture, light drifting in through the windows as the notes are played on the piano.

Dr. Andrew Boyle is an extraordinary pianist and piano teacher, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for piano lessons!
Andrew has been a colleague of mine for over 8 years, and he consistently brings incredible artistry and an immense knowledge of music to everything he does, whether it be performing, teaching, or collaborating. He is kind, patient, and thoughtful with a wide range of experience and education in not only classical piano, but also other musical styles, skills and topics.

As a fellow piano teacher, it has been a pleasure to have joint piano recitals of our students together. His students have shared that they are very inspired, motivated and learn a lot from Andrew.

His spacious studio in Los Angeles has a beautiful Yamaha grand piano along with two other high quality digital pianos for collaborating and practicing. I recently recorded in the studio space and really enjoyed the tone of the piano and the kind accommodations from Andrew and his family, who make it a very comfortable and welcoming place for music learning.

I would be happy to refer any students to him, and I give a confident recommendation of Andrew's expertise in music education!

I highly recommend Andrew! His home studio is in a LOVELY restored craftsman home that is spacious and comfortable! And his grand piano is gorgeous :)

Andrew Boyle is an absolutely FANTASTIC pianist and teacher. He is patient and humble yet he is one of the most accomplished pianists I have ever heard. My youngest brothers received trial lessons from him when they were visiting LA and my mother (who has been hiring piano teachers for almost 30 years), said that Andrew was the best she has experienced!
