Rising Star Children's Musical Theatre has been the most wonderful and meaningful experience for my children over the past 3 years. It is about so much more than theatre--learning to trust yourself and grow in a kind, fun, and safe environment. This is not to say that the plays are not top notch and excellent--indeed they are! No one is quite sure how the talented and patient director, Beth Meurer, creates this magic with the children in the the time they have to do so. Beth, her husband Rob, and her team are also inspiring role models for my children. The kids are a part of a creative team and process, with each one getting a turn to shine. I highly recommend this program!!!!
My daughter Nora has done five shows with Beth and Rob, and she has loved every single minute. Their program embraces the idea of doing theater for the sheer love of it--no stress, no pressure, no competition, just encouragement and fun. Kids at all different levels share shows, and it all works. Everyone is welcome, and everyone grows tremendously during their time there. Its just the sweetest vibe, and we love it!
My daughter began with Rising Star when she was 8 years old. She was a timid child who was not really a "joiner'. Through the loving and caring guidance of Beth and Rob she became who she is today. Now 14 years old she interned in a summer production while mentoring many of the cast members.
While the productions are incredible, the culture is one of acceptance for every child regardless of their skill, empathy and respect for each member of the show and giving each child the feeling that their is nothing they cannot do or accomplish.
I have watched children's spirits flourish under the leadership of Beth and Rob. They are such genuine, positive people and will always be "in the moment" with your child. Something I value so much.
I can not say enough wonderful things about Rising Star! My son, who is thirteen, has been doing shows with them for over three years and has loved every minute. Our family has made so many wonderful memories and friends, thanks to this group. Beth and Rob set the tone for the kids--- always positive, always encouraging and the result is magical. The shows are a joy, but there is so much more to the experience than the chance to perform. The kids learn to support each other, work hard and challenge themselves in all kinds of ways. Rising Star is truly a gem!
Rising Star Children's Musical Theatre is the ideal environment for nurturing the inner-artist in every child. It's a safe place to discover acting, singing, and choreography. I have personally witnessed the shyest and most reserved children come out of their shells and discover their voice, discover their confidence in choreography. I believe this is all due to the director Beth Meurer's gentle, nonthreatening teacher's heart combined with her super talented voice and choreography skills. And if that's not enough, Beth has an amazing Writer/Composer partner at her side, her husband Rob Meurer. Together, Beth and Rob are a beautiful, loving dynamic duo. They produce shows you'd never thought possible: amazing costuming, natural acting, great songs and choreography. If you'd like to find a safe niche for your kids to find satisfaction through working hard while having fun, then look no further than Rising Star. This company has many happy repeat and loyal families on its roster. Families seem to only leave when their kids grow up. LOL. The Little Stars is for ages 5-7, The Lucky Stars is for ages 7-12, and The Rising Stars is for ages 10-16.
