I have attended this Church since I was a few months old. This Church means so much to me and the mural (the one that was destroyed) meant tremendously to my Honduran family. I was amazed by the Church's response in wanting not just justice, but for the help and well being of the man who destroyed the mural. There is a great love in this Church and I am so happy it has been a part of my life for so long.
I sent all 8 of my kids to St Elisabeth. Now I'm the legal guardian of 3 of my grandchildren who have been attending here for 3 years. This is a loving environment where the children learn strong moral values as well as an excellent education. 5 stars for St. Elisabeth!
Our eldest child started at this school in 2006 while he was in 3rd grade. Not only has he made friends that he remains very close to despite having attended different high schools, but it gave him that strong foundation in moral character and academics that helped him become a productive and down to earth teenager. He coasted through high school and now is in an engineering program. A lot of that success started at St. Elisabeth. He still comes to visit the school and help out sometimes. I would like to say that we are a good Catholic family, but the truth is that we are a mixed family that includes divorces and everything else. St Elisabeth only ever gave us support and no judgement.
The school is in Van Nuys. We all know how Van Nuys is. To think that this school will be perfect because it is private is just does not know the area. Its structure is older, but clean and feels safe. The teachers are dedicated. The families who send their kids there are working families who sacrifice to send their kids there. That means the parent participation is high and also very dedicated. The kids that attend St. Elisabeth reflect that love and dedication that is given to them. If there is a problem, the principal and teachers are easy to contact.
We now have younger children that is starting the cycle again. They love the nurturing environment. As parents, we see how hard the teachers work and how they care for the kids. My work schedule is hectic, but it is clear that the safety and education of our kids is a team effort and we try to help when we can, but often can't. They get that too.
We are very happy at St. Elisabeths. Go Knights!
