Jeremy was a great teacher, knowledgeable, fun, and cheered each wave~when we come back we know where to go! Thanks for a great time!

The owner was there as well and made sure we had fun. Super easy and chill business. Would def recommend and we might actually come back to learn more. Jeremy and Justine

(September 12, 2018, 11:04 am)WOW. There aren't enough words to portray how AWESOME of a time this was! The best time of my life, so exhilarating, and left me feeling incredible. Leon was so courteous and understanding- he's a PHENOMENAL teacher and took such good care of me and my partner. It was our first time surfing and Leon made us feel like pros. I genuinely loved it and instantly wanted to book another lesson. Everyone at Kapowui was so nice and made us feel instantly like apart of their surfer family. Loved it loved it loved it! Thank you Leon, and THANK YOU KAPOWUI for making our first time surfing not only the highlight of our trip to LA, but the one of the best times in our entire lives!

(September 7, 2018, 3:06 pm)We had the most incredible time with Leon as our instructor. We were first time surfers, and his instructions and patience with us was excellent. He was very friendly and got us going quickly. We both managed to ride a few good waves all the way to the beach during our two hour lesson. Don't settle for anything less than two hours; you'd be doing yourself a disservice. And make sure you're a decent swimmer! Surfing is a workout! Thanks so much Leon for your support. You made a dream of ours come true.

(September 2, 2018, 3:17 pm)Overall, the instructor was attentive and clear. This was a private lesson for 2 people who had never surfed before for 2 hours. We went early enough that we weren't really competing for space in the water, which made the first half of the experience good. In the second hour another instructor with 4 or 5 people joined us and it felt a bit crowded. The other instructor was barking out orders at his group, drill sergeant style. The experience felt authentic, though when we returned to the van, the instructor was rushed into his next lesson, which didn't feel personable at all. He was told to get some water and we hand shook and were sent off. He was good and knew how to act/what to say when the waves were rough to keep us calm. When I booked the lesson, I took the time to review each instructor, and chose the specific one I wanted, on purpose. I chose Lulu and wanted to surf with her, but when we got there, it was somebody else, without warning. He was good, though not what I paid the $220 for. If you go, go early, and don't bet 100% that you will get the instructor you've chosen, if you took the time to do your research.
