It's perfect for a first date or for a group situation. Not too high end, but some good vibes and the food is delicious.
You order at the entrance and then get to choose different sides and drinks.
I would recommend to take the regular and a side but I had a large and it was big.
They have a vegetarian broth.
The cutlery is a bit small and it's all plastic, this is why I give a 4 star review. Otherwise it's a 5 star.
Wonderfully chewy udon and soothing soup. The little additional appetizer pieces are also delightful. The croquettes are smooth and soft inside while still crunchy on the outside. The roe adds a nice saltiness to the mix
I have not dined in here since 2019 or early 2020. The experience is the same great experience I had the first time I dined in here. The neighborhood, Sawtelle Japantown is great to hang out if you wanna stay away from other major communities in the City Of Los Angeles which are suffering from a lot of crime right now. I spent under $19 for what you see here (water bottle not pictured) which is a fair price for fresh Udon and tempura dishes + the atmosphere that I mentioned. I'll be coming here more often in the future. Thanks Marugame. 🍜
I always get the nikutama bowl. The beef and onsen egg is really good. I also always take too much tempura. The recent time I went I actually didn't really like their shrimp tempura. It didn't really taste like anything and the texture wasn't great either. The other tempura I got like the mushrooms were good though.
