(December 22, 2014, 10:55 pm)I contacted David's Radiator today because the radiator in my Honda Civic was leaking. I got a quote from three other shops before going to David's. PepBoys quoted me $456.11 to install a new radiator, Butche's Auto quoted me $389 which did not include antifreeze or taxes and San Pedro Auto gave a rough estimate of at least $400. Both Pep Boys and Butches Auto suggested I change my thermostat at the same time because that could also be causing the problem. I informed all the shops my thermostate had been replaced in 2013 and brought my reciept to verify this.
David Sr., the owner at David's Radiator was very nice, answered all my questions and pulled his mechanic off a car he was working on to pressure test my radiator for leaks. I watched the pressure test and could see water spraying out of the top of my radiator, exactly where the steam was coming from.
David Sr., quoted me $200 for a new radiator, labor and taxes, and said the job would take about three hours. He had the new radiator in stock and started the work immediately.
David invited me to wait in the shop business office and even offered me something to eat while I waited. I left for approximately 40 min to run to the bank and had my daughter drop me back off at the shop. My car was completed in less then 2 hours.
I highly recommend David's Radiator if you ever need to replace your radiator or have your air conditioner rapaired. The service was excellent, fast, and economical.
