Back in the day I competed in a variety of sports. But various injuries, including a significant back injury had sidelined me for a few years. My back and knees hurt constantly, often making it impossible to sleep through the night. Is this what approaching 60 is supposed to feel like? I asked a friend what personal trainer she was using because I had seen her and her husband's results. She gave me Ian's number. The guy knows his stuff. It took a few months for the pain in my back and knees to start decreasing. Six months in training and I was pretty much pain free and sleeping like a baby. My strength, coordination and balance have improved significantly. I've tried the big box gyms and never lasted more than a few weeks. Ian is different - I've been working out regularly with him since April 2017. He has many tools and techniques to draw from, he knows how to modify training to help you reach your goals and workouts are always fun and interesting. I highly recommend him.

One day I woke up, fell to the floor, was unable to walk, talk or call for help. I am young, very healthy, never had any health issues and one day, woke up after suffering a stroke. Luckily I was airlifted to UCLA and they were able to save my life. I was paralyzed on my right side and had difficulty speaking and have for years worked with fantastic physical and occupational therapists at UCLA, Carole Netter, Allison Sacher and Rebecca Grantham. As I continued to recover I meet Ian Vaughn. To look at him, you might find him intimidating and I wasn't sure if I could do anything he taught or if he would want to train me. Well I was in for a surprise, he should never be underestimated. He talked to my physical and occupational therapists and together we all worked out an individualized plan for me. He utilized different training tools not available at traditional PT/OT sites that continue to make my recovery interesting. He knew that I just needed to train in a way that I could accomplish my goals and continue my recovery. He continues to challenge me, doesn't let me underestimate myself and can see, even if I doubt myself, the progress I can obtain in my future. It can take many years to decades to recover from a stroke. Recovery takes years of hard work, takes dedication, patience and a little help from others. Ian trains navy seals, firefighters, aging baby boomers, 80 years olds and me, a stroke survivor. Check him out, you might be surprised what he might be able to do for you.

I've been training with Coach Vaughn for over a year and my training has gotten so much better since then. I found VVTC when I was googling for more steel mace training and found his website with some very impressive videos and info about how he does his training and thought this would be good to supplement with my martial arts and ice hockey training that I already do. I like that my sessions are focused on what I want to get out of them and he can also find similar exercises with the steel mace and steel clubs that will help my hockey performance. His recommendation of steel clubs for my wushu broadsword training has also been very beneficial for my shoulder mobility. And also any questions I have are answered with examples of "why" and credible info that follows from his knowledge of what he's learned over his years of being a personal trainer. I highly recommend Coach Vaughn if you value the safety of your workout session with a highly skilled trainer as he is constantly talking about safety in his gym and also with the tools he uses. He also continues to learn and take workshops which is something that I want a personal training to do, ...to keep learning and applying.

I have been a student of Coach Ian Vaughn for the past 4 years. As a fitness professional, I am greatly inspired by the improvements I've seen him make in his own mobility, flexibility, strength and power in the process of becoming an outstanding presenter and educator. Ian's passionate pursuit of excellence has led him to travel all over the country and internationally to seek education from the brightest minds in fitness. Ian serves a diverse clientele ranging from a younger more athletic population to active aging adults. Ian really thinks outside the box to make super fun and effective fitness accessible to people of all ages, pregnant and post partum mothers, and those with injuries, impairments and neurological conditions. Taking courses, in-person privates and online coaching from Ian has empowered me with strength hacks to grow my own 59 year old body stronger than I ever dreamed possible. My work with him has equipped me with a science based system to offer my clients safe and efficient ways to grow more mobile, flexible, and strong with modalities that all work together and compliment each other so beautifully. Where Ian really sparkles and shines is in his expertise in designing programs to progress people safely.
